LOM - International Automotive Engineering
I have always had a deep interest in cars and the fascinating engineering innovations that go into their
creation, even from my first years of college. I remember being awestruck by these incredible gadgets
and all the tasks they could perform from a very young age. My early interest in automobiles prompted
me to learn more about the science and technology that goes into making them. My interest in the
automobile field developed into a burning passion by the time I graduated from college, and I knew
then that I wanted to dedicate my life to improving the remarkable subject of automobile engineering.
As the first step in my professional life after finishing school, I decided to major in mechanical
engineering at the undergraduate level so that I could get a solid grounding in the art of over-
engineering machinery and mechanical systems. I finished school with outstanding scores and could
get into a top university in India for the program. I was able to read extensively on topics related to
automotive engineering while also gaining a firm grounding in basics across the board, from fluid
mechanics to heat and mass transfer to thermal engineering to mechatronics. The most valuable
aspect is that I was able to participate in a variety of academic and extracurricular activities, which I
used to my advantage in expanding my horizons and honing my abilities.
I had a great time studying various aspects of additive manufacturing technology. So, I decided to
focus on a related project that involved developing and building a ball mill that could be adjusted for
speed. Both the ball mill and the cylindrical jar could be used to turn solid substances into
nanopowders by grinding them in a revolving motion. The device relied on a motor to ensure the jar
could rotate quickly, while the regulator managed the rate of rotation. Thanks to my persistent work,
the idea has a chance of coming to fruition.
This program not only provided me with the chance to join the SAE club, but it also helped me become
proficient in software packages like Catia V5, NX CAD and CAM, and Ansys which are quite helpful in
this field. As a member of this prestigious organization, I was able to expand my understanding of
many emerging trends in the automotive sector and network with experts from leading companies.
Furthermore, I participated in the SAE Baja India Vehicle Building Competition, where my team and I
were tasked with designing and constructing a custom off-road vehicle.
As one of the twenty-five people on the team, I had the privilege of building the vehicle from the
ground up. I was able to make significant contributions to the final design as the department head for
brakes, and our team finished as the runner-up in the competition. In addition, I helped plan
"Mechgust," a technical symposium held at the national level and hosted by my institution.
The most valuable part of the program for me was the opportunity to visit factories and see how
various concepts were put into practice in real life. I went to the Chennai Heat Treaters factory outlet,
among others. They do heat treatment. As part of my tour, I got to see how post-production
treatments are applied to ensure the highest possible hardness and usable range of material. In
addition, I went to Amalgamation India Private Limited, where I observed the production of clutch
plates. Furthermore, I interned at Indutch Composites Technology Private Limited, an organization
that specializes in the export of windmill blades, in their pre-fabrication department. Beyond the
myriad operations involved in the day-to-day operation and maintenance of a plant, I was able to see
that the blades were fabricated from aluminium sheets for maximum strength-to-weight ratio and
that different types of aluminium were utilized for various areas of the blade depending on the load
requirements.
Indeed, I can honestly say that my enthusiasm for vehicle engineering has only grown as a result of
these events. I believe that now is the moment for me to begin yet another academic trip that will
enable me to intensively discover the outlines of vehicle engineering and open doors to pursue a
wonderful profession in the same sector on a global scale. With the goal of starting down this path, I
am writing to express my interest in joining your university's great program in this area.
After significant analysis, I have concluded that the program offered by your institution is an excellent
choice. This program's thoughtful design gives me confidence that I will gain a solid foundation in all
the most important areas for success in this field, such as vehicle dynamics, vehicle safety, design,
simulation, etc., and that I will be exposed to the cutting-edge tools and technologies now being used
to successfully complete some of the most important projects in this arena. I am confident that I will
gain a solid understanding of how concepts are implemented in practice and acquire extremely
relevant viewpoints thanks to your university's emphasis on both theories and practice.
The faculty members chosen to teach in this program are, from what I understand, among the most
renowned experts in their respective fields, which is one of the many ways in which this education
stands out from the competition. By studying under their guidance, I know I will be well-prepared for
success. Certainly, if given the chance to participate in this program, I will try my utmost to contribute
to its success.
I'm extremely excited to start courses at your university for the Master of Science in International
Automotive Engineering program!
