ROLE-PLAYS FOR FINAL SPEAKING TEST

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Candidates work in pairs in 5 minutes to prepare and then make a conversation in 3-5
minutes on one of the given role-plays.
2. Each candidate is required to answer one or two questions.

MARKING CRITERIA:

1. Role-play : 8.0 ms
- Content : 2.0 ms
- Fluency & accuracy : 2.0 ms
- Speaking manner : 2.0 ms
- Pronunciation : 2.0 ms
2. Question : 2.0 ms

Total : 10 ms

SITUATION 1

You (Candidate A) have just arrived at the airport to take your business partner (Candidate
B) from a foreign country to your company. This is the first time you’ve met him/her. Greet
him/her and make a small talk about the following:
+ His/her flight
+ His/her first trip (to Vietnam/HCMC)
+ Some famous places and restaurants
+ Promise of showing him/her around if he/she is free
Finally, end the conversation because you both have arrived at the company.

SITUATION 2

Candidate A: You are a reporter for the Youth Newspaper. You are interviewing a famous
businessperson. Greet him/her, ask him/her about work and then ask about a typical day.
Finally, thank him/her for the useful information and end the conversation.

Candidate B: You are a sales manager and work for a company in Jakarta. Today you have a
short interview with the Youth Newspaper’s reporter. Greet him/her and tell him/her about
your typical day. Finally, close the conversation.

SITUATION 3

conversation on the phone.
