ACTIVITY COMPLETION REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF

NUMERACY AND READING INTERVENTION
IDENTIFYING INFORMATION
Activity Title ACR on the conduct of numeracy and reading
intervention/innovation titled, Project NeNWRI (New
Normal Way of Remedial Instructions)
Date October 2021 – JULY 2022 (9 Months)
Venue Inayupan Elementary School
Participants’ Description Grades 1 to 6 learners
ACTIVITY
Description Numeracy and literacy are the most basic tools needed
by a child for learning. Numeracy is the ability to understand,
reason with, and to apply simple numerical concepts that will
lead a learner to use Mathematics in a wide range of
situations. Reading on the other hand, undergoes complex
processes before a child learns to read. Learners don’t learn
one reading-related skill and then move on to the next in a
step-by-step process. Instead, they must develop competency
in four areas simultaneously: decoding, comprehension,
fluency and vocabulary.
Due to an alarming result in numeracy and reading
performance of the learners during the school level Pre-test
assessment, Inayupan Elementary School conceptualized a
good program that balances or integrates both numeracy and
reading instructions in order to provide all learners with the
experiences they need in order for them to learn or even gain
mastery in numerical and literacy concepts. Thus, Project
NeNWRI is formulated.
Objectives 1. Strengthen the DepEd program “Bawat bata bumabasa”.
2. Strengthen the DepEd programs on numeracy.
3. Improve Numeracy level of learners from 48% to 85%
at the end of school year 2021-2022.
4. Improve Reading level of learners from 44% to 85% at
the end of school year 2021-2022.
5. Address learning gaps of all Key Stage 1 learners and Key
Stage 2 slow learners, and those without home learning
facilitators.
6. Maintain rapport between the teachers and the
parents/guardians throughout the school year 2021-2022.
HIGHLIGHTS
The project’s second-year implementation for school year
2021-2022 was on October 4, 2021. It started by informing the
parents and guardians through home visitations and any
social media platform since gatherings during that time was
strictly prohibited by the local-IATF. Signed Parents’ Consent
served as the proof that they allow their schoolchildren to be
the participants of the said project.
Due to the very alarming low performance of most of the
learners from Grade 1 to 6 in reading and numeracy, the
teaching staff agreed that the project must level-up into a
face-to-face individualized remediation that will be done in the
classroom. So, the following was the schedule of face-to-face
conduct of Project NeNWRI:
Scheduled Identified Slow Persons
Day Learners Involved
Tuesday Grade 2 AM Class
Grade 6 PM Advisers
Wednesday Grade 1 AM Class
Grade 5 PM Advisers
Thursday Grade 3 AM Class
Grade 4 PM Advisers
Friday Kindergarten Class
Adviser

During the month of April 2022, the project needs to be

adjusted since the school was already implementing 100%
face-to-face classes. So, every afternoon session was the
schedule of conducting the remedial instructions.
Then this innovation was regularly
implemented weekly until the school year 2021-2022 ended
last July 2022. Its implementation was very helpful in uplifting
the learners’ capacity in literacy and numeracy for at the
fourth quarter period, the school had zero-out the Non-
Readers and Non-Numerates.
RESULTS
Achievement of Objectives After the project implementation, the school’s performance
level in numeracy was increased from 48% to _%, while
the reading level increased from 44% to _%.
Participants’ Feedback The learners were happy of the results and gained more self-
confidence and interest toward studies.
