Topic: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

Document 1: Introduction to Sustainable Development Goals The Sustainable Development Goals

(SDGs) are a set of 17 goals established by the United Nations in 2015. The goals are intended to
guide global efforts towards sustainable development by 2030. The SDGs cover a broad range of
issues, including poverty, health, education, gender equality, climate action, and more. Each goal
has specific targets and indicators to measure progress towards achieving the goal.

Document 2: Goal 1 - No Poverty The first goal of the SDGs is to eradicate poverty in all its forms
and dimensions. This includes not only reducing the number of people living in poverty but also
ensuring that those who are still living in poverty have access to basic services such as health
care, education, and clean water. The targets for this goal include reducing the percentage of
people living in extreme poverty to less than 3%, implementing social protection systems, and
increasing access to financial services.

Document 3: Goal 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy Goal 7 of the SDGs is to ensure access to
affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. This goal recognizes the crucial role
of energy in achieving sustainable development and the need to transition to cleaner forms of
energy to mitigate climate change. Targets for this goal include increasing the share of renewable
energy in the global energy mix, improving energy efficiency, and expanding access to modern
energy services.

Document 4: Goal 12 - Responsible Consumption and Production Goal 12 of the SDGs focuses on
promoting sustainable patterns of consumption and production. This includes reducing waste
and increasing resource efficiency, promoting sustainable public procurement practices, and
promoting the use of sustainable technologies. The targets for this goal include reducing per
capita global food waste, improving sustainable tourism practices, and promoting sustainable
management of chemicals and hazardous wastes.

Document 5: Goal 17 - Partnerships for the Goals The final goal of the SDGs is to strengthen the
means of implementation and revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development. This
goal recognizes the need for cooperation and partnerships among governments, civil society, the
private sector, and other stakeholders to achieve the SDGs. Targets for this goal include
increasing international cooperation, enhancing policy coherence, and increasing the availability
of data and statistics for monitoring progress towards the SDGs.
