INTRODUCTION

The aim for this assigned project is to recommend a plan for the construction of a recreation
room at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (U.T.T), Pt. Lisas campus. Many problems
occurs at schools which necessitate the need of a recreation room such as students being burned
out or stressed out (Understood by Wright, 2018), another issue is that students are not motivated
or encouraged to do well in school (Verywellfamily by Duncan, 2020) and students have a lack
of balance and- self esteem (KNOWLEDGEREVIEW by Devi). According to research a total of
75% of students experience the negative impact of school (YALENEWS by Belli, 2020). The
cost of the recreation room will include construction, purchase of games and furniture and labor.
The common price to redecorate or remodel a recreation room is approximately $19,000US. A
low-end recreation room redesign begins at about $6,500US and may additionally go up to
countless thousand dollars. In this report the recreation room and recreation block will be
compared indicating which one is more suitable. Cost, Material, Time and Labor will also be
compared.

BODY

A Recreation Room is defined as any room in a building or accessory building, designed to be

used particularly for games and relaxation, the pursuit of hobbies, social gathering and
comparable activities. A recreation room may not be designed, built, rented, leased, used or
occupied as residing quarters (law Insider website). A recreation room can have a stabilizing
impact on the lives of young people. By providing protected and properly outfitted areas for
physical activities such as dance, martial arts , yoga, basketball and other sports. Recreation
rooms or block instill discipline, wholesome exercising habits and teamwork said in (Community
by JUMPSIX2, 2016). The main disadvantage of a recreation room is that can distract a lot of
students from studying and completing their assignments which can result to many terrible
consequences such as achieving poor grades in their exams.

DATA ANALYSIS
7

From the table above the following observation is as follows:

CONSTRUCTION- It states that in the recreation room it takes less construction mainly
because it possesses a small area or can be created by using a room that was never used. The
recreation block possesses more construction which results in hiring construction workers to
create the block.

COST- The cost for building a recreation room is a lot cheaper than the recreation block because
the cost for redecorating is at least $6,500.00 US which will be more expensive if you are
redecorating an entire building and remodeling is cheaper which will cost at least $19,000.00US
for the products including games, furniture and books.

MATERIALS- The recreation room will obviously result in the use of less materials than the
recreation block because of magnitude.

TIME- The recreation room construction will take at least a week to construct and a recreation
block will take almost a month to build.

LABOR- In the construction of the recreation room it will take a lot less workers which will
result in paying less salaries and it will also be cheaper than the recreation block which will be a
lot more expensive since the larger amount of worker and the larger amount of salaries being
paid.

CONCLUSION
8

In summary, this report has listed and considered the advantages and disadvantages of using a
recreation room in all schools. Research has acknowledged that a recreation room can facilitate a
social area where students can interact and make connections with different students who they
have in no way met. However in a recreation room will have a set of rules that will be followed
by both students and teachers. These rules will prevent students from committing heinous acts in
the room including stealing and staying in the room after hours in order to skip classes. In
conclusion it is best to use the recreation room for the well-being of students interacting with
each other and a great time of relaxation.
