    Giving An Injections
    STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE INTRAVENOUS INJECTION
    (IV)
    a. Explaining the procedure to be carried out using aseptic technique, reading
    drug labels and drug dosages according to the 6 principles of correct drug
    administration.
    ( right medicine , right patient , right dose , right route , right time , and
    Correct documentation )
    b. Washing hands
    c. Freeing the area to be injected by freeing the area to be injected by raising
    the arm
    d. Take the medicine in its place with a syringe according to the dose / dose to
    be given. If the drug is in powder preparation, dissolve it with a liquid
    solvent (sterile distilled water). Place the drug that has been taken in the
    injection tub
    e. Installing a perlak / pad under the vein where the injection will be carried
    out
    f. Bind with a rubber cap on the top of the area where the drug will be
    administered or ask for help to stem the vein above the area where the
    injection will be carried out
    g. Put on gloves
    h. Disinfect with alcohol cotton
    i. Do the puncture with the needle hole facing upwards by inserting it into a
    blood vessel
    j. Do aspiration if there is blood
    k. Release the rubber dam and immediately squirt medicine to run out
    l. When finished, take the syringe by pulling and applying pressure to the area
    with the alcohol cotton. Enter the syringe that has been used into the bend
    m. Wash hands after the procedure is performed
    n. Record procedures and reactions to drug administration

    Nurse : its True with Ms. Marisa
    Px : yes nurse Im marisa,
    Nurse : ok, im nurse Amelia I will take care of you today, How are you
    Feeling today ?
    Px : Not very well I think I felt stomachache
    Nurse : ok, Now I will give you ketorolac and ranitidine injections
    intravenously to reduce your stomachache. i will wash my hands
    and I will wear gloves
    px : yes nurse
    Nurse : excuse me, please roll your sleeve up, before starting, I will give
    a base first on the part of the hand that will be injected
    px : sure nurse
    Nurse : then I will bind with a tourniquet on the top of the area where the
    injection will be given
    Nurse : I will disinfect with an alcohol swab the part of your hand that
    will be injected with the drug, I will inject the medicine, if you
    feel pain, just take a deep breath
    px : sure nurse , hhhmm aaaaaaa ( take a deep breath)
    nurse : ok, okay, very good after aspiration of blood, I'll remove the
    tourniquet okay it's done, I'm going to close the injection scar
    with a band aid, ok I will take off the gloves and I will wash my
    hand again
    px : sure
    nurse : if you feel dizzy or still have pain after the injection, you can lie
    down first to get rid of the side effects of the injection
    px : thank u nurse
