BACKGROUND
This development plan is a draft that has been prepared after discussions with a number of key stakeholders within the club. Full consultation has not yet been completed and this information will be incorporated once the process has been finalized. The need for a structured approach to the future has become increasingly evident in the last 12 months. Implementation and regular review of an appropriate plan will ensure that Lavington Panthers Cycling Club will remain a vibrant, progressive organisation that serves the needs of all cyclists in the community for many years to come.

What we are doing well already

TRACK The club already has an active and still growing track program in the summer season. This program is based around junior and senior riders. Monday night track racing is combined with Albury-Wodonga CC and both clubs work together to run the program (commissaires, handicapiong, entries etc.). The majority of promotion and organisation of local cub races is done by LPCC committee members. Training is held on Thursday nights; with juniors from 5:30pm and seniors from 6:30pm. For the winter of 2011 a group of seniors and juniors has continued training on Wednesday nights. This has been a great benefit, both in terms of rider performance and maintaining the level of interest of our juniors. ROAD In 2010 the club commenced a junior road program with race training being conducted fortnightly on Saturday afternoons. This built on the successful 2009-2010 track season that saw increased numbers. The aim was also to leverage on some of the local triathletes looking to continue

winter bike training and racing. Our road program concluded with a successful one-day mini tour in November, organised by LPCC and supported by the Wangaratta and Albury-Wodonga clubs. In 2011 the club liaised with Wangaratta CC to run a junior aggregate series throughout the season. Fortnightly Saturday afternoon race training continued as well as skill development and closed circuit racing for novices and juniors. A number of LPCC juniors participated in their first State Open Junior races this year. The LPCC, through president Jeff Drury initiated talks with Albury-Wodonga CC aimed at greater cooperation between the two clubs. LPCC has not previously organised senior racing but there was a need to overhaul senior road racing in the district. Albury-Wodonga CC racing has been declining over the last few years. This cooperation has led to a Winter Racing Calendar consisting of a series of club training rides and some Handicap races. The aim is to encourage greater numbers into racing and our focus will be to introduce new members to racing through this process.

To the future
Currently our club is more innovative and dynamic than AWCC. Any joint initiatives that have been developed so far have been instigated by LPCC. Continue to build cooperation between AWCC and LPCC Build on our successful track program by introducing structured development program (three levels novices, intermediate and elite) Appoint a club coach Assist more people within the club to gain coaching accreditation (currently 2 Lvl 1 coaches in club) Schools programs Womens specific program (from come and try to novice to intermediate) Overcome the difficulties caused by the structure of the AlburyWodonga Development Squad o Currently this squad seems to operate more as a racing team than a true development program. o LPCC juniors must also join AWCC if they wish to be selected for the Albury Wodonga Development Squad and ride in AWCC uniform at Development Squad races. o Suggestions could be that the Development Squad becomes regionally based not club based. Also ride in a squad specific uniform that doesnt favour one particular club. Implement the development plan to achieve our vision.

ABOUT THIS PLAN

This strategic plan has been developed by a forum representing members of the Lavington Panthers Cycling Club. It recognises that whilst there are and will always be individual needs within the Club there is the need to share common goals. It is these common goals that are documented.
