THE JOY OF SALVATION

1. What is Salvation?
Salvation though faith in Jesus Christ is an experience that brings deliverance, restoration, and preservation. It is a deliverance from the grip of
Satan, a restoration from eternal shame and a U-turn from the pit of hell.
2. How is salvation received?
Salvation is a gift from God that is received through faith in Jesus Christ. This means that a person can receive salvation by believing in Jesus
as their Lord and Saviour and trusting in his sacrificial death and resurrection as the means of forgiveness for their sins.
 Ephesians 2:8 – “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;
it is the gift of God.”
 Acts 16:31 - “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.”
 Romans 10:9- “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God
raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
3. What is Joy of Salvation?
The joy of salvation is a profound sense of happiness and contentment that Christians experience when they receive the forgiveness of their
sins and become reconciled to God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is the realization that they have been saved from eternal separation from
God and that they have been granted the gift of eternal life.
This joy is not a fleeting emotion based on temporary circumstances, but rather a deep, abiding sense of peace and happiness that comes
from knowing that one's sins have been forgiven and that one is in a right relationship with God. It is a joy that is grounded in the hope and
assurance of salvation that is promised in the Bible.
The joy of salvation is often accompanied by a desire to share this experience with others and to live a life that reflects the love and grace of
God. It is a transformative experience that changes the way a person views themselves, others, and the world around them.
4. Do we all have the Joy of Salvation?
Unfortunately, not many people have this joy, including those who attend Church services regularly.
Why?
Well, let us briefly look at the characteristics of this joy to understand it better.
5. What are the characteristics of Joy of Salvation?
a. It is real:
Some do not have it because they are not saved, while some deliberately or ignorantly removed themselves from it. No matter what, it is
a real experience of life.
b. It is divine:
It is not the same as worldly or earthly joy. It is divine, for God is its source.
c. It is inward:
It is internal joy, which is not controlled by physical circumstances of life. Even during trials and tribulations, you can still have this joy.
d. It is an evidence or assurance of your salvation:
If you claim to be born again and you do not have this joy, it means something is wrong. No one who is genuinely saved will lack this joy,
even when going through the trials of life.
e. It can be lost:
No one can take The Joy of Salvation from the Christian.
 John 16:22 – So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice,
and no one will take away your joy.
But it can be lost as seen in the life of David.
 Psalm 51:12 – Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
David pleaded with God to restore it back to him because he lost it. From David’s experience, it can be lost through:
 The practice of sin
 Presumption and carelessness
 Indolence
6. What does the joy of salvation bring to us?
a. Gratitude: Brings sense of gratitude towards God for His love, grace, and forgiveness.
b. Peace: Brings a sense of peace, knowing that one's sins have been forgiven and that there is hope for eternal life with God.
c. Hope: Brings a sense of hope for the future, as they trust in God's plan for their lives.
d. Love: Brings a deeper sense of love for oneself, for others, and for God.
e. Fulfilment: Brings a sense of purpose and fulfilment, as believers feel called to live out their faith and share the message of salvation with
others.

Now, the two most important questions are:

1. Do you have this joy?
2. If you had it before, do you still have it?
If you have lost it, the good news is that it can be restored through deep and sincere penitence, entire dependence upon God and believing in
the power of prayer that God will hear and restore it to you. In heaven, that joy will be uninterrupted and eternal. But if you don’t have it here,
you shall not have it there. You can have it or regain it today. The choice is yours.
