Here are some common dance injuries, including the pain associated, and how to manage if it occurs.

How can dance injuries be prevented?

The majority of overuse injuries and even some traumatic dance injuries can be prevented.
Follow these guidelines to reduce your risk of injury:

 Eat well and stay hydrated before, during and after class.
 Get enough rest and avoid overtraining.
 Do cross-training exercises to build strength and endurance in all parts of your body.
 Always wear proper shoes and attire.
 Always warm-up before training or performances.
 Lead a healthy lifestyle and get to know your body.

When injuries happen, address them immediately and get advice from a doctor or physical therapist.

3. What advices you can give to a dancer to prevent himself/herself on dance injuries? Write at least
two preventive ways.

Activity 2: Emergency! Emergency! What will I do?

1. Analyze the situation:


While having your rehearsals in Sinulog dance and doing the running steps you
accidentally flip off your right foot, suddenly you feel the sprain in your ankle area and it
was painful.

What would be your immediate response to the situation?

2. What should be the best way to address cramps?


a. Get the person out of the sun and bring into a shady or air-conditioned location.
b. Lay the person down and elevate the legs and feet slightly.
c. Loosen or remove the person’s clothing.
