b. Change fractions to decimals and percent or vise versa

c. Manifest honest and wise choice of food

II. SUBJECT MATTER

Topic: Giving the relationship between fractions, decimals and percent

Materials: Flash cards, manila paper, grid lines, card board

MELC: visualizes percent and its relationship to fractions and decimal numbers using models

Code: M5NS IIIa-136

Reference: BEC-PELC II.J.1.2.c

Value: Honesty

III. PROCEDURE

TEACHER'S ACTIVITY STUDENT'S ACTIVITY

A. Preparation

1. Greetings

Good morning class!

Good morning ma'am!

2. Review

What was our lesson yesterday?

Ma'am, it's all about renaming a decimal as a percent

or vice versa

How do we rename a decimal as percent?

Ma'am, to change a decimal to a percent, we multiply
by 100. This is the same as moving the decimal point
two places to the right.
Correct!
How about percent as decimal?

To change a percent to a decimal we divide by 100.

This is the same as moving the decimal point two
Ok, Let us check whether you really understood our places to the left.
lesson yesterday. Let’s answer some problem.

percents and decimals)

0.07 7%

0.4 40%

0.003 0.3%

75% 0.75

8% 0.08

101% 1.01

3. Drill

Before that, I have here some flash cards that contain

easy changing fractions to decimal. As I flash these cards,
you answer as fast as you can. If you know the answer
just raise your right hand.

Do you understand?

Ok, let’s start.

B. Developmental activities

1. Presentation

Our topic for today is all about the relationship between

fractions, decimals, and percents, and I prepared a
problem about brothers who sell junk. Let’s find out what Yes ma'am
they did. But before we proceed with reading the
problem, what are the standards for oral reading again?
Ma'am, I'm buying food

Ma'am I'm saving the money

Ma'am, I'm giving the money to my mom.

Okay, everybody read the problem?

How did Luis and Ernie earn money?

Understand what is being read.

How much did they earn?
Read it with enough voice or read it aloud

How did they spend their earnings?

Luis and Ernie earned 100 pesos for selling junk.
They gave 73 pesos to their mother and spent 27
What is being asked in the problem? pesos to buy candies. What percent of their
earnings did they give to their mother? What
percent did they spend?

(Teacher will read the problem again)

Let us visualize our problem. I have a 100-square that

represents the 100 pesos that they earn, and the shaded They earn money by selling junk materials.
part is 73 pesos for their mother and the unshaded part
is 27 for themselves.

They earn 100 pesos.

They divided it for their mother, which is 73 pesos,

and 27 for themselves.

What percent of their earnings did they give to their

Changing percent to decimal mother?

To change a percent to a decimal we divide by 100. This What percent did they spend?
is the same as moving the decimal point two places to
the left.

What percent of their earnings did they give to their

mother?

What percent did they spend?

Verygood!

Another example

25% to fraction and to decimal

To change a percent to a decimal we divide by 100.

This is the same as moving the decimal point two Ma'am 73%
places to the left.

Changing fraction to percent

Ma'am 27%
Multiply the denominator to any number that can give a
product of 100.

For example

Steps:

1. Think of a number that you can multiply to get a

product of 100.

2. To get the decimal, move it twice to the left.

3. To get the percent, move the decimal point two places

to the right.

Another example

Did you understand class?

Now let’s have a group activity. I will group you into 4

groups, and I will give you a grip per group. Use color to
show the following, then complete the chart. After that,
every group will present it to the class.

2. Application

Color- Fraction Decimal Percent

BLUE 35 out of

C. Generalization

How will you change fraction to decimal to percent?

Very good class!

Now bring out one whole sheet of paper and answer the
following:

We can change a fraction to fraction whose

denominator we canmake into 100 by multiplying the
numerator and the denominator by the same number.
Change the fraction to decimal with required number
of places.

To change a decimal to percent. We move the decimal

point 2 places to the right and affix the percent sign.
