DLP in Lesson 13.2 (Trends in Periodic Table)
I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of a 60-minute lesson, the students should be able to:
• Electron Affinity
- It is the amount of energy released or absorbed by
an atom.
- Increases from left to right across a period, and
from bottom to top within a group.
- Metals generally have low electron affinity
- Nonmetals have high electron affinity.
Electronegativity
- It is the ability of an atom to attract electrons
toward itself.
- Electronegativity generally increases from left to
right within a period, and bottom to top within a
group.
- When two atoms of different elements share a pair
of electrons, one atom becomes partially positive
and the other becomes partially negative.

you for this day, a
day with hope and

F. Generalizati To summarize the discussion, let‟s have another
on game.
Questions:
1. What is atomic radius? Atomic radius is the
distance of nucleus to
the outermost part of
atom.
IV. Evaluation

“To assess your understanding about the topic, I prepare some Answer:
questions that you need to answer”. Identification
Identification. Identify the correct term that best describes the following
description. Answers should be written in a ¼ piece of paper.
6. Does the metallic character of the elements from top to bottom 6. Increases
increases or decreases due to its reactivity?
7. When the electron affinity of Selenium increases its electronegativity 7. increases
________.
8. The Electronegativity of Iodine increases its Ionization energy 8. increases
__________.
9. The ionization energy of carbon increases, its electron affinity 9. increases
