A DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 10

I. Objectives
At the end of the lesson, at least 75% of the learners should be able to accomplish the following
with at least 80% level of success:
1. define gas,
2. identify the different properties of gas and their units,
3. discuss the relationship between volume and pressure;
4. discuss the importance of the properties of gases in daily life.
II. Subject Matter

minutes With the same group, you need to explain the
words you arranged according to your own
understanding. After that, the representative of
each group will share their ideas in front of the
class. I will give you 5 minutes to finish this task.
Strictly no searching.

“Very good! Because the molecules of the

increases, and the same with pressure. That is
when the balloon pops right away.

"To understand further about our topic, let’s dig

into the "Properties of Gases."

20 E. EXPLAIN
minutes
"Before we proceed to our lesson, what is a gas a substance or matter in a
first?" anyone?" state in which it will
expand freely to fill the
whole of a container,
having no fixed shape
(unlike a solid) and no
fixed volume (unlike a
liquid).
“Correct!”

A gas is a substance that has no fixed size or

shape. When inside a closed container, a gas will
expand to fill the container.

“So here, we have the Properties of Gases which

are;
1. Mass – it is the amount of gas. The SI unit
of mass is the kilogram (kg).
"We all know that mass is one of the common
properties of matter. Can you give me an
example of matter that has mass? (The students will give an
example.)
“Correct!”
“Now, let’s proceed to volume. Who wants to Ma’am!

2. Volume - A gas expands uniformly to fill

any container in which it is placed. This
means that the volume of a gas is the PowerPoint
volume of its container. The symbol of Presentation,
volume is V. Flowchart
“Simply, it is the amount of space of container
occupied by the gases.”

or coldness of an object. The symbol of
volume is T. (The students will give an

“And here are the units and equivalents of

temperature: ”

“Last is pressure”.
4. Pressure - is the average effect of the forces
of the colliding molecules. The symbol of PowerPoint
volume is P. And here are the units and Presentation,
their equivalents for pressure: Flowchart,

“Correct. Why? Example we have inflator here.

When you pull up and then push down the pump,
the first half of the inflator is soft or you pushed
it easily, why? Because the bigger the volume of
a gas, the lesser the pressure you need to exert.
Vice versa when you reach the 2nd half of the As the temperature of a

“To assess your understanding about the topic Yes, ma’am

let’s answer some questions”

“Are you ready class?”

5 F. ELABORATE
minutes To summarize the discussion, let’s have a game.

Instructions: I prepared a ball of questions here;

you just need to pass it through your classmates,
and when the music stops, the last person who
touches the ball will answer the question. If the
student's answer is wrong, they will dance.
