Morning after breakfast proceed to Kandy via Matale. En route visit the
Spice Garden. Spice Garden: See why Sri Lanka became a globally popular
country for its herbs and spices. The environment possesses excellent
conditions for growing cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, peppercorn, and other
flavorful delights. Learn about the process of growing these natural products
using ecologically friendly methods. At the end of your visit, stop in the
souvenir shop to purchase some exotic spices from the source. The
attraction offers free transport wherever needed between the city and the
estate. Note that the law strictly forbids harming cinnamon trees.Lunch at
Outside Restaurant .
Continue to Kandy .
Sightseeing in *Kandy, including Upper Lake Drive, Market Crafts Centre, Gem
Museum. Kandy the hill capital, venue of the annual Perahera the last
stronghold of the Sinhala Kings was finally ceded to the British in 1815.
Visit The Temple of the Sacred Tooth . The Temple of the Sacred Tooth (Sri
Dalada Maligawa) was originally built by the Kandyan Kings in 1595, to house
and honor the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha. Attracting crowds of white-
clad pilgrims bearing lotus flowers for means of worship, the Maligawa features
a myriad of intricate carvings that speak volumes of the architectural values of
Kandy. Today the City of Kandy is a UNESCO World Heritage Site in part
because of the Temple of the tooth relic.
Visit Royal Botanical Garden .
Royal Botanical Garden: Home to over 4000 species of plants including an
extensive collection of colorful orchids, medicinal plants, spices, palm trees and
more, these gardens annually attract nearly 2 million visitors. Greatly
contributing towards aspects such as floriculture, butterfly and birdlife
conservation and concentrating on the sustainability and biodiversity of the
island, Peradeniya Botanical Gardens is truly a paradise of tropical greenery,
with an abundance of bamboos, lianas and
lofty trees to wander amongst.
After breakfast proceed to Kandy Station for a small journey on the train from
Kandy to Nuwara Eliya. [Travelling Time: 3 Hours Approx.
Experience a train ride from Kandy to Nanu Oya. The train trip from Kandy to
Nuwara Eliya (Nanu Oya Train Station) The scenery is amazing as you see
beautiful green hills covered of tea plantations, steep mountains, old lovely
bridges, waterfalls, small villages. Lunch at Outside Restaurant .
Learn about Tea Production. The production of tea involves a tedious
procedure of plucking, withering, rolling, oxidizing and drying – a process that
requires heavy machines and plenty of manpower. Once in the tea factory,
you would generally start out in the plantation itself to learn about how tea is
cultivated, then visit the factory where ancient machines pre-dating the
industrial revolution wither, roll and dry the tea. There is normally a little time at
the end of the tour for a tea tasting, either of one specific type of tea or
occasionally of the various specialties of that factory.Later explore the City of Nuwara Eliya.
Visit the highland city that was the premium holiday resort town of the British in
the 19th and early 20th centuries. Enjoy walking through the streets with their
pretty little cottages, quaint villas and beautiful mansions. Make a memory in the
old red-bricked post office as you purchase a postcard to take home or send to
your friends. Relax at Queen Victoria Park and on the shores of Lake

Morning after breakfast proceed to Balapitiya for a Boat Safari at Madhu River.
Madu River Ride - Enjoy a scenic cruise along the Madu River, a relaxing trip with

can appreciate the timeless natural rhythms of rural life. You cruise in canopies,
outboard motors powered boats, en route take in the view of a 200-year-old

fishing techniques in action and can view demonstrations of coir manufacture
and rope making. You can also see 46 species of birds reside in the area
including 14 aquatic varieties. You will also spot huge water lilies and colorful
butterflies.
The 5-hectare ribbon of beach stripe, the Galle face green is now the largest open
space in Colombo that attracts hundreds of tourists and locals alike. Cotton
Collection, House of Fashion and Odel, the largest departmental store in the island
offers you stylish clothes to cute souvenirs with elegant Sri Lankan touch, also
Beverly Street, visit bargain market in Colombo Pettah, Visit Noritake Showroom,

› Climate
Tropical monsoon, northeast monsoon (December to March), southwest monsoon (June to October)
Sri Lanka is tropical, with distinct dry and wet seasons. The seasons are slightly complicated by having two
monsoons.
- From May to August the Yala monsoon brings rain to the island’s southwestern half, while the dry
season here lasts from December to March.
The southwest has the highest rainfall – up to 4000mm a year. The Maha monsoon blows from October
to January, bringing rain to the North and East, while the dry season is from May to September.
- The North and East are comparatively dry, with around 1000mm of rain annually. There is also an inter-
monsoonal period in October and November when rain can occur in many parts of the island.
- Colombo and the low-lying coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C. At Kandy (altitude
500m), the average temperature is 20°C, while Nuwara Eliya (at 1889m) has a temperate 16°C average.
The sea stays at around 27°C all year.
› Credit Cards
- MasterCard and Visa are the most commonly accepted credit cards at many hotels and shops. No
surcharge should be permitted for its use.

- There are many public and private hospitals, nursing homes and other institutions providing medical services
throughout the country.

› Clothing
- Light cotton dresses/cloths are most suited.
- A wide-brimmed beach hat and sunglasses, comfortable shoes/sandals.
- In the hill country a Pullover is advisable.
- Long trousers/Shoes for gents are preferred by hotels during dinner. Shorts also can be worn, but you
have to check with hotel reception.
› Swimming & Sunbathing
- We do not recommend swimming in the ocean if a RED flag is displayed. If there is a RED flag, this
means there are strong waves, currents and it is unsafe.
- Please be careful when going out in the sun for the first few days of your holiday, as the tropical sun
can cause sunburns. Always use a high factor sun cream and remember to drink plenty of bottled water.
› Tipping
- Tipping is customary, but not obligatory. In restaurants and hotels a 10% service charge is
automatically added to your bill. However, if you feel that you have enjoyed very good service, an
additional ti p can be considered. You may wish to leave your hotel tipping until your departure, as most
hotels often pool all tips amongst all staff. For Guests who are on tour, should you wish to tip your
driver/guide, the amount is entirely at your discretion.
› Wildlife and Nature
- Visits to National Parks will be at client's own risk. Always follow guides and trackers instructions when
inside national parks.
- Please note that the game drives can be quite uncomfortable as drivers have maneuver in rustic
roadsand paths furthermore Safari Jeeps are non-air-conditioned.
