About Plantation
The first Indian national tree plantation week was organized by M.S. Randhawa from
20 to 27 July 1947. Randhawa had been inspired by ideas of a forest week, festival of trees or
arbor days in various countries. The first event of 20 July 1947 was inaugurated with the
planting of Bauhinia saplings by Khurshid Ahmad Khan, commissioner of Delhi in the morning
and in the afternoon, another ceremony was held at the Purana Qila led by the Vice President
of the Interim Government, Nehru.

About My Work in Plantation

Before planting trees, we cleaned the school surrounding for hygiene purpose, we
cleared the weeds surrounding the area before sapling the plants, so that no harm was made to
the sapling in the future. After sapling the trees, we pour some water on it and watch the sapling
for weeks when we were present in the school jurisdiction.
Outcome:
By encouraging Indians to support tree planting and tending, we hope to create more
forests in the country. It would provide alternative fuels, increase the production of food
resources, create shelterbelts around fields to increase productivity, offer shade and decorative
landscapes, reduce drought, and help to prevent soil erosion.

Conclusion of the Activity:

Our main objective was to create environmental awareness among students, and we
successfully achieved that by planting saplings and educating students and local about the
importance of it. After sapling the tree, we pour some water on it and watch the sapling for
weeks when we were present in the school jurisdiction.
About Swachh Bharat
Mahatma Gandhi rightly said, “Sanitation is more important than independence”.
Swachh Bharat mission was launched by the Government of India to solve the problems of
sanitation and waste management in India by ensuring hygiene across the country. The main
aim of the project is to create sanitation facilities for all.

About My Work
I and my college mates cleaned the entire GOVERNMENT JUNIOR COLLEGE. We
first cleaned the classes with a broom, and after that, we cleared the weeds around the area of
the plantation or sapling the trees, we cleared the garbage and made a place to throw them
instead of littering them around the school so that the school looks neat and tidy for the visitors,
parents or new students who are yet to join the school. We used specified tools like sickles to
clear out the trash and we brunt the trash or garbage which was not harmful to the environment
in that way we can lower the wastages thrown into the society.
Outcome:
By this activity, we encourage all to bring about necessary regulatory and policy
changes to facilitate the scientific processing of waste and to focus on bringing about behavior
change among citizens and encouraging them to segregate waste at source.

Conclusion of the Activity:

DONATION OF UNUSED CLOTHS-REUSE DRIVE

We collaborated as a team and one week before donating we identified Sri UDAYA OLD AGE
HOME and visited the place and interacted with the people living over there. There were around 15
people staying in that old age home of aged 50 and above. Upon interaction we concluded that we
want to donate cloths for these elderly people. We started collecting the cloths from our houses that
were not used or become obsolete for our own use. Also, we ensured that these cloths collected are
beyond 70% in good condition so that it can be used by these elderly people and also in washed
condition. Almost two carton boxes of cloths were collected consisting of various dress materials
(sarees, sweaters, Bedspreads, trousers, shirts etc.) that suits for men and women. These cloths
collected were of traditional usage style, so that the elderly people will be willing to use them. We
informed old age home that we have scheduled to visit and donate these cloths on 8th December 2022
at 12:30 PM. Accordingly all students of 8th SEM CSE & ISE assembled at the old age home on 8th
December around 12:40 PM and started with casual discussions, we provided few snacks to them and
after a while we assembled all the elderly people of the old age home at the entrance and donated the
carton boxes of cloths to them. They felt very happy; we also felt the pleasure of joy of giving. It was
a wonderful experience in our life. Thus, instead of throwing away the unused cloths to the
environment, we donated them to the needy
