Server

Applies to 

Summary
With Content Server, OpenText Customer Support may request that you perform a full
resynchronization of an Admin server in your Content Server environment.
Resynchronizing your Admin server ensures that its configuration files on disk
accurately represent the configuration stored in the Content Server database.
This article outlines the correct procedure for performing a full resynchronization.
Resolution
To perform a full resynchronization of an Admin server, complete the following steps:
1. Stop the Content Server services (llserver and admserv) for the Admin server that you
want to resynchronize.
2.
3. Browse to the Content Server installation folder (<OTHOME>).
4.
5. Make backup copies of the following <OTHOME>/config files:
otadmin.cfg
otadmin.cfg.old
otadmin.pid
otadmin.pid.old
search.ini

Store the backups somewhere outside the <OTHOME>/config folder.

6.
7. Delete the following files from the <OTHOME>/config folder:

otadmin.cfg
otadmin.cfg.old
otadmin.pid
otadmin.pid.old
search.ini

Do not delete the otadmin.pwd file.

8.
9. Start the Content Server services (llserver and admserv).
10.
11. In a web browser, open the System Volume directly using the following URL suffix:
?func=ll&objtype=148
12.
13. The Admin server for which you removed the configuration files should appear as active,
but it may have an odd Processes count and the DCS Status may display a red X (as may
the RMI Registry Server Status, if it is present).

14.
15. On the Admin server's Functions menu, click Resynchronize.

16.
17. Click OK on the following page to initiate resynchronization, and wait until it completes.
Once the resynchronization has completed, note any errors mentioned in the

resynchronization output. Provide the error messages to your OpenText Customer

Support representative for feedback.
18.
19. If the resynchronization was successful, the System Volume should now show a positive
Processes count and the DCS Status should have a blue check mark (as should the RMI
Registry Server Status, if it is present).

20.
21. If you have made manual customizations to your original otadmin.cfg and search.ini files
and Customer Support advises you to continue with these customizations, reintroduce
them now.
Stop the Content Server services (llserver and admserv).
Make the changes to the otadmin.cfg and search.ini files.
Restart the Content Server services.
