SINGLE PHASE UNCONTROLLED HALFWAVE RECTIFIER


1. A single phase half wave diode rectifier feeds power to RL load with FWD across it.
Vs=230V, 50Hz, R=20 ohm, L=1 H. Find the average values of output voltage and
output current.
(Ans: 103.52V, 5.176A)

2. Circuit in Fig. 2, the output current is considered constant at Io because of the large L.
Find the average values of output voltage and current.

The load R is 50 ohm.

15. A single phase half wave rectifier feeds a 15 ohm resistance. The supply voltage is

20. A single phase full wave rectifier uses a center-tapped transformer whose output
voltage from center-tapping to outside terminal has an rms value of 150V. It feeds a
load having a resistance of 30 ohm. If firing angle is 45°, find average dc voltage,
average load current, rms load voltage and rms load current.

21. A highly inductive load is fed by a full wave converter with center tapped
transformer. The primary of transformer is fed by 230V, 50Hz supply. The average
values of load voltage and current are 100V and 15A. Firing angle is 30°. Find the
transformer turn ratio. Assume the forward voltage drop across the thyristor is 1.7V.
