TEKAFIX
WINDSCREEN
PROPERTIES
• Excellent adhesion to most substrates present in windscreen bonding and sealing
applications even without a primer.
• Excellent adhesion also on various types of metal, ceramics, varnished wood,
various types of plastic, polycarbonate, PVC.
• For long-lasting bonds and protection against the impact of air humidity,
mechanical and temperature shocks and vibrations.
• Good output even at low temperatures.
• Does not slump in vertical applications.
• Good adhesion on moist surfaces.
• Excellent mechanical properties, high adhesive strength.
• Environment friendly; solvent-, isocyanate- and silicone-free.
• Totally chemically neutral and odourless.
• It can be painted with most epoxide-, polyurethane- and water-based paints and
coatings.
• During hardening a shrinkage of less than 1,5% is observed.
• Resistant to atmospheric effects, UV-light and ageing.
• Does not cause corrosion.
• Electrical resistance: high
• Chemical resistance:
– good chemical resistance:
water, aliphatic solvents, mineral oils, fats, diluted inorganic acids and bases;
– poor chemical resistance/not resistant to:
aromatic solvents, concentrated acids and chlorinated hydrocarbons.
• Colour: black.

USE
• For sealing and bonding of windscreens and other types of screens to the body of
passenger cars, coaches, trains, vessels, trailers, forklifts and tractor cabins.
• For sealing and bonding of front, rear and side screens to the body of passenger
cars, trailers, forklifts and tractor cabins.
• For construction bonding in the industry of coaches, trains and machinery.
• For highly demanding industrial applications.
• For sealing and bonding in the industry of machinery, ventilation and air-
conditioning devices and in the power generation industry.

APPLICATION
Joint and surface preparation
Before applying the adhesive make sure the surface is clean, dust and grease-free, solid and
without any badly attached pieces. The surface should be cleaned with Teka Cleaner; wipe
the surface well with a cloth to remove any impurities and residues of Teka Cleaner.

To increase durability of the adhesive it is recommended that you protect the surface to be
bonded, namely:
• only bond glass with a protective ceramic lining on the inner side;
• apply a rubber gasket over the bonded surface on the external side of the glass.

Windscreen bonding procedure:

• Apply a 3mm thick double-sided Tekafix fixing tape on a clean surface on which you
intend to fix a windscreen element. The tape provides a temporary support to the adhesive
during the curing process. It also enables that the layer of the sealant is evenly applied
which is of extreme importance if you wish to achieve optimal results of bonding procedure.
• Tekafix Windscreen should be applied using a hand-held gun. Use a nozzle which enables
a triangular outflow of the adhesive (Picture 1).
• Apply the adhesive on the outer side of the double-sided Tekatrak fixing tape. Leave at least
a 10mm gap between the applied adhesive and the tape.
• Remove the upper protection layer of the double-sided tape and put the windscreen in place
immediately. Press hard in order to ensure a perfect joint between the windscreen, the
adhesive and the double-sided fixing tape.
