The AutoCAD was designed to help the users to achieve the realistic
appearance of their projects. It is used by professionals in various industries
to enhance their design, which increases the quality and productivity of their
product. It has also increased the speed of manufacturing of the parts.
AutoCAD stands for Autodesk Computer-Aided Design. It is a drafting and
design software application developed and marketed by Autodesk. The
AutoCAD software is used in industries, by architects, designers, graphic
designers, city planners, managers, and other professionals worldwide.

The Interact CAD was the first program began in 1977 and released in 1979.
The AutoCAD was derived from the Interact CAD program, which is also
referred to as MicroCAD in early Autodesk documents. It was written before
Autodesk formation.

The first version of AutoCAD by Autodesk was demonstrated in 1982 and
released in December, in the same year. It also supported CP/M-80
computers. By the year 1986, in March, the AutoCAD became the most
effective CAD program worldwide.
The 2020 version was marked as the 34th version released by the AutoCAD for
Windows. The 2019 version was marked as the 9th consecutive version for the
MAC. The common extension for the file format in AutoCAD is .dwg.
The DXF file format has become the de-facto standard for 2D drawing
exchange and CAD data interoperability.
AutoCAD is a CAD (Computer-Aided Design) software that engineers,
architects, and other professionals rely on to create precise 2D and 3D
drawings.
The 2D and 3D drawings are created on the given screen. The display contains
all the tools and icons which make the process to create any drawing. There
are particular shortcuts for icons.
The drafting is a technology for the design, which replaced the manual
drafting with the automated process.
Some of the icons are different on the 3D display than the 2D display.
The icons of AutoCAD are present on the Ribbon Panel and the Status bar.
The AutoCAD 3D has two 3D displays.
1. 3D Modeling
2. 3D Basics
The 3D Modeling includes some advance icons, while 3D Basics includes basic
icons.
The image of a mouse displaying its three basic parts is shown in the given

The selection method is used to select individual objects. It can also be used to
select particular objects from a group.
We can access the units in AutoCAD using two ways, as discussed below:
o Click on the Application Menu button, which will look like the given
image:
We can download the AutoCAD software for a trial period of 30 days, and
after this, we can proceed further to buy the license.
The steps to download the latest version of AutoCAD 2020 are given below:
The Student version is also called as the Free 3-year Education License.
o The student's version is a free version created by Autodesk for students,
educational institutions, and educators.
o The student's version license is renewable after the 3-year or 36 months
term.
o The objects or projects created in this version cannot be used for
commercial purposes. To develop such objects commercially, we need to
use the full commercial version.
The student version is similar to the full commercial version, except the
educational flag. It means that the objects or files created in the student's
version have an internal big flag set, i.e., the output contains a stamp printed
on all the four sides.
The student's version is used to support success in education and beyond it.
o The software is available free of cost with all the available tools.
AutoCAD software is used by millions of students, teachers, and
institutions every day.
o We can create project-based models to learn design thinking,
innovation, and creativity.
o Autodesk also partners with brands and organizations through global
competitions to sharpen our skills.
o The Autodesk provides us the tools to explore our curiosity, sills, and
showcase our creativity. It is a medium to achieve academic and future
career success.
o We can also become a student expert to connect with peers and
industry professionals.
o The Autodesk also allows us to create the Portfolios on Autodesk Design
Academy.
Through this, we can show our great ideas to the world, share the
design process, and can be connected with our peers.
In this project , we learnt all about AutoCad. From basic things to its depth.
We learnt about features of AutoCad, how to use its software , different types
of components in the software, learnt about its advanced version also. We also
viewed about the history of AutoCad , how it came into reality. We are again
thankful to Prof. Chandru Pattanshetty Sir, who gave us a wonderful
opportunity to make this micro-project. We are thankful to all our team
members who helped each other to bring this wonderful micro-project on
Autocad in existence.
