INSTALLATION CONDITIONS

1.Caution in installing the unit

1) Installation site
○ Install the unit indoors where good ventilation is provided. Do not install the unit
outdoors since it is designed for indoor use.

○ The cleaner the suction air is, the longer the machine life is. Avoid such installation
sites subjected to dust, chlorine gas, hydrogen sulfide gas, sulfur dioxide gas, highly
concentration of ozone or any other toxic gas. Also avoid underground or highly
humid place.

○ Keep the machine ambient temperature 45℃ or lower. Operation in a room at a

temperature higher than 45℃ causes thermal trip or other troubles. Install a
ventilation fan in the room where the compressor is installed to keep the ambient
temperature 45℃ or lower.

○ When the indoor temperature that the compressor was installed is lower than 0℃,
the oil viscosity is raised, and it is expected to become a starter failure. As for such
case, consult the manufacture separately.

○ Provide adequate space for maintenance around the unit; the front: more than
750 mm for opening and closing the door, and the operation and maintenance of
the unit. The top: more than 1300 mm for the normal exhaust function.
The rear: more than 750 mm for sucking air and piping. The left side: more than
1050 mm, the right side: more than 750 mm.

2) Caution in installation
○ Perform foundation works on 2 positions, the compressor front and rear, with the
foundation bolts and foundation bolt's set plates attached (see the Exterior Drawing).
Always set cauls for foundation bolts, which is effective for noise prevention.

○ Be sure to connect the ground cable to the terminal installed on the operation panel.

○ The noise level changes by the size of the room where the compressor is installed,
the position, the reflective rating of the wall and so on.

○ Install the compressor on the horizontal floor, and don't install it on the shape steel
and the block. Installation on the shape steels or the blocks may cause increased noise.

○ In the case of installing the compressor's charge's and its discharge's mouth in
the room, pay attention to its mouth's position and direction.
P6

3) Installation of air tank

○ Since the discharge air capacity control is performed by 2-step method (0% and 100%),
be sure to install an air tank in the discharge line.

※) In case of load rate is 50%, differential pressure of upper and lower limit pressure is
0.05MPa {0.5bar}, a cycle time (load → unload → load) is 23 seconds.
And also the capacity shall be selected so as to keep pressure of the discharge line over
0.29MPa {2.9bar} .

2.Caution in piping

1) Discharge-air piping
○ The pipe diameter is 50A or bigger. The discharge air pipe shall be as short as
possible so as to minimize the pressure drop in the pipe. When deciding the pipe
diameter, allow for the piping resistance.

○ An unsupported long piping may cause for vibration and, as a result, the devices
to which such piping is connected may be damaged. The piping must be properly
supported (using hangers, fasteners, columns, etc.).

○ Slope the pipes in the air flow direction to prevent the drain from remaining in pipes.

○ When two or more screw compressor units are to be connected to the same main
discharge pipe, equip a stop valve in every discharge pipe from the unit to close
the valve while either compressor unit is in rest. Set up a drain outlet valve between
the screw compressor, and set up the stop valve of the same size in that point as well
separately. It is necessary at the time of the trial run and the maintenance.

○ For the piping extended up to the air tank, install a drain outlet, for easy draining.

○ Don't equip a check valve between a compressor and the air tank.

○ When a screw type compressor and a reciprocating type compressor are to be installed
together, the discharge pipe from a screw compressor shall be connected to
the downstream of the air tank to keep the pulsation from the reciprocating type
compressor away.
P8

2) Other piping
○ Install joints in the cooling water piping so as to remove pipes from the compressor
for the maintenance.

○ Install drain valves in the cooling water piping.

○ For drain discharge from the inter-cooler and the after-cooler, use a 10A pipe.

3.Ventilation

○ Install a ventilating fan such a place where the ventilated air is never sucked again.

○ Consult with the service person for installing a ventilating duct.

WARNING
  RESPIRATORY DISORDER
  Do not breathe in nonclean compressed air or do not use it for any respiratory equipment;
otherwise, a respiratory disorder may be caused.

WARNING
Grease is not used in the compression section of an oil-free compressor, so discharged
air and drainage water essentially contain no oil. However, a small amount of oil, held in
the atmosphere or attached on the parts at the time of manufacturing, may be contained.

ELECTRIC POWER FACILITIES

○ The power to be supplied is 3-phases 380・415V in the 50Hz.

○ The wiring inside the compressor has been completed.
○ Remove the front cover and draw the power cable into the power supply entrance on
the left side of the soundproof cover. Then, connect the cable to the power supply
terminal block not to connect a wrong phase.
○ As for the cable size, earth leakage breaker and transformer, select the ones listed in
the following chart. The use of the wrong size or capacity may cause abnormal
overheat or burnout of the motor and cable.
○ Be sure to preserve the connection area of cables in good condition so that
the mechanical stress may not be applied to it.

◆ Compressor power-supply facility ◆

The compressor electric characteristics are listed in the following chart.

◆ Selection of power supply breaker ◆

The magnetic contactor inside the compressor protects the compressor from overload,
lock, and open-phase of the main motor. This contactor is not provided with
short-circuit protection, so be sure to install an earth leakage breaker in the power
unit. The earth leakage breaker must protect the wiring cables to the compressor.
Select one according to the following items.
(See our recommended breakers listed in the following chart.)
① The breaker operates at a larger current than compressor’s rated current and
thermal operating point. (The breaker is installed for short circuit protection.)
② The breaker does not operate at the compressor’s starting current and time.
(See the chart.)
③ The breaker does not operate at the overcurrent at the time of switchover
between star-connection and delta connection. (Select the breaker with larger
instantaneous tripping current than the listed one in the chart.)

■ Recommended earth leakage breaker (Sensitive current:100 ~ 200mA)

◆ Selection of cables ◆
When selecting a cable, make sure that the power voltage does not drop by 10 % or
more at the compressor starting current. Also, make sure that the cable ampacity at
short circuit is larger than the breaker instantaneous tripping current.
Our recommended cables are listed in the next page.
■ Recommended cables
Power cable: 600 V rated EV cable (600V rated polyethylene cable)
600V rated CV cable (600V rated cross-linked polyethylene cable)
600V rated PVC cable (600V rated polyvinyl chloride cable)
【JIS C3605-93】
Earth cable: Connect the earth cable to the earth terminal on the power
supply terminal block.
The earth resistance should be 10Ω or less.
P11

■ Cable size
1) The below chart shows one example of 600 rated CV cable and conduit line
laying of the three-core cable with one hole and one bar.
In case of direct buried laying, covered conduit laying and air laying,
the ampacity will be larger.

2) The ampacity at short circuit in the chart is calculated at 90℃ of cable

temperature before short circuit.
If the cable temperature is high before short circuit, the ampacity at short
circuit will be smaller than the ones listed in the chart.

3) Select the earth leakage breaker that operates with smaller current than
cable ampacity at short circuit.
The cable instantaneous ampacity is calculated at 0.02 seconds of the breaker
instantaneous tripping time.

LUBRICATING OIL

1.Control of Lubricating Oil

○ For the long and good use of the compressor, proper control of the lubricating oil is
necessary.

○ Lubricating oil shall not be mixed with that of a different brand.

Mixing oil may cause deterioration of oil or adherents which may shorten the life of
bearing extremely.

○ If you change the brand of oil, drain the oil completely, and clean the oil line by
flushing oil, and supply new oil.

○ Lubricating oil should be changed the entire quantity in 1 year or 8000 hours,
whichever comes first. But conduct sampling of every half year only in the first year,
and confirm the effectiveness of the exchange at 1 year (or 8000 hours).

○ You must use the lubricating oil of the brands recommended in the following table.
The machine has been designed for the following brands of lubricating oil.
The use of unrecommended brands could shorten the life of bearings extremely as
proper oil quantity and film cannot be maintained.

2.Recommended lubricating oil brand

3.Replenish of motor grease

○ Since the grease valve system is adopted in the shaft seal part of the main motor.
Replenish the new grease to two places in the load-side and the fan-side according to
the following table. Undercharge or overcharge of motor grease could cause problem
on the bearing of main motor. The replenishment must be performed in an appropriate
amount (as per the specification) for every replenishment interval. Use grease gun to
replenish grease under pressure while the motor is in operation.

○ Never mix different types of greases. Mixture of greases of different quality or brand,
or with different additives could cause deterioration and insufficient lubrication.
As a result, bearings could be damaged and extremely short-lived.

○ Do not fill the grease except the above one. The main motor is designed on the basis
of the above mentioned grease. If you use other grease, the bearing temperature will
rise and lead to damage of the bearing. It will also shorten the bearing life.

○ Please refer to the operation manual about other precautions.

REF. GUIDELINE OF THE JAPAN REFRIGERATION AND AIR CONDITIONING
INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION
JRA GL-02-1994
Notes)
(1) In case of using circulating water by a cooling tower or the like, the concentration
becomes higher with its use. Therefore, take care to lower the concentration
before it reaches these values. The periodicity of water-replenishing must be
decided by the results of periodical inspections of water quality. Especially when
the unit is located in the vicinity of facilities exhausting sulfur dioxide (SO2),
hydrogen sulfide (H2S), ammonia gas (NH3) or nitrogen oxides (NOX),
the circulating water to the cooling tower is much affected ; therefore carry out
periodical inspections every 6 months initially.
(2) Attach a screen or filter on the cooling-water pipes against foreign matters such
as mud or shellfishes.
(3) Water taken from wells or rivers in the vicinity of the sea might contain salt.
In case of using such water, carry out a water quality test in advance.
(4) Please contact us as for use of the deionized water separately.

Note) Strictly observe the required flow rate of cooling water in the above list.
If more flow rate is required, keep it under max. flow rate of 183 L/min.
(differential pressure: 0.055 MPa { 0.55 bar}) for all types.

 (Reason:)
Excessive flow rate can cause pitting in the tube of heat exchanger, resulting in
critical problems that oil mixes with cooling water or cooling water enters
the compressor. Never supply cooling water over max. flow rate. If the cooling
tower has no flow meter, install inlet and outlet valves and pressure gauges at
the both ends of the water line. Control the water flow rate and maintain
the differential pressure at or under the value shown in the table above.
 (Note:)
A great deal of drain may be discharged if the cooling water with much lower
temperature than the ambient temperature is supplied to the compressor
(the difference in the temperature between the cooling water and outside air is
more than 15 degrees). Please contact us in that case. The drain discharge time
needs lengthening.

3.How to treat the cooling water at the time of the compressor shutdown.

○ Internal condensation may occur to the compressor. Do not let the water pass at
the time of the compressor shutdown. Installation of the feed-water solenoid valve
is effective.

○ Drain the cooling water at the time of the compressor shutdown if there is
a possibility of freeze-up.

TIPS FOR SOUND CONTROL MEASURES

The sound level on this machine is measured at the point 1.5m from the front of
the machine and 1m above the floor in an anechoic chamber. The sound level
depends on the measuring position. It also changes according to the circumstances
and conditions under which the machine is installed. To install the machine, special
consideration should be given to sound control measures. The following are just
samples for sound control measures to be done by customers.

<Case 1>

If the discharge piping is securely

attached to the wall, vibration may
transmit to the building.

<Case 2>

There may be gap between the Fill up the gap to avoid resonance.
compressor base plate and the floor.

<Case 3>

The sound level is increased due to Install sound absorbing material to

the machine.
P17

<Case 4>

The piping is resonant with the air tank. ・Lag the piping
・Please install the silencer between the
compressor and the air tank. Set up
the support in consideration of weight
 when installing the silencer.
<Case 5>

The opening position of exhaust duct To reduce the sound level in the vicinity
can influence the sound level. of compressor room, install sound
absorbing material to the inner surface
of exhaust ducting.
Note) In constructing the exhaust ducting,
always maintain the static pressure at
20Pa or below.

<Others>
The sound level also varies according to the number of operating compressors.
For example, if three 85dB compressors operate, the sound level will be as calculated
by the following equation:
85 85 85
 10 log(10 10 +10 10 +10 10 )=90dB

There are other factors that may increase the sound level.
When installing the compressor, take effective sound control measures with adequate
consideration.

If there are unclear points, please consult separately.

AFTER-SALES SERVICE

Proper maintenance is necessary to keep the compressor in good condition for long
periods. Inside the compressor, there are various heavy equipments such as the motor,
and many of them need removing or replacing at the time of maintenance. As shown
below, the installation of the I-beam will make it safer and easier to do
the maintenance work.

<Installation of the I-beam>

<Precaution>

(1) Select the I-beam with enough load capacity to lift the heavy load listed above.
Take the joint strength between the building and I-beam into account.

(2) The compressor’s maintenance needs specialized knowledge and skill.

The maintenance work by the Customer yourself or other companies may
cause an unexpected accident.
Please be sure to contact us for the maintenance work.
