Optimizing gut function

Lifestyle adj: nervous system release and balance, sleep, regulation of conn tiss matrix, meridian
system, and environment, diet, minerals, discharging harmful biological frequencies, exercise, hydration;
stresses from work, family, self

Diet: remove all potential allergens then reintroduce to find specific ones. #wheat, corn (white
and yellow), citrus, cow dairy products, shellfish, peanuts, yeast and soy tomato and other nightshade
family vegetables such as peppers, potatoes and eggplant

Medical conditions contributing to gut dysfxn: hormonal imbalances, esp. thyroid

GB dyskinesia: progesterone deficiciency causes spastic bile ducts/sphincter, affecting

bile motility, which affects gut motility, causes reflux; restriction of bile flow (d/t GB removal) can cause
dysbiosis; increased bile viscosity d/t dehydration; bile salts deficiency d/t loose stool or low
cholesterol>causing constipation/dysbiosis (bile salts=antimicrobial); many times d/t diet of cold, damp,
phlegm-producing foods; remove GB disruptors: coffee, alcohol, fatty foods, chocolate, cold drinks

To replenish bile salts, we typically use the following: LV/GB Complex from DFH 2 or 3
caps per day, with meals. This is better than straight bile salt supplements, which tend to be harsh on
the stomach. Taurine is needed for bile salt synthesis. 1–6 grams per day. Drinking herbal teas before,
with or after meals, such as peppermint and ginger, will relax and harmonize the upper gut. Drinking hot
ginger tea along with a cold pack on the gall bladder area, will relax the biliary ducts and allow acute
spasm to pass. For some patients, eating warm applesauce, millet or a bile-sopping food like spaghetti or
potato will help. Castor Oil packs will also relax spasticity.

Irritation Foci: dental, spinal subluxations, diaphragm, including gall stones, diverticuli or
inflammatory lesions of the stomach

5 R’s to restore gut integrity

Remove gut stressors: emotional and psychic stress, a diet containing allergens and other irritants, or
the presence of an overgrowth of harmful microbes. These microbes could he bacterial, fungal, viral, or
parasitic. The remove part of the protocol would consist of stress management, a reduction of foods to
which any allergic response can be demonstrated or is suspected, and the use of antimicrobials.
Remember that antimicrobials may kill off infection, but often damage the mucosal lining, deplete
spleen qi, and generally need lots of drainage and anti-inflammatory support.

Antimicrobials that we have successfully used include:

Antibacterial: Bacterial infections in the gut tend to accompany fungal and/or parasitic
infections. Klebsiella pneumoniae and Citrobacter freundi are among the most tenacious of these.
Coptis and Scute, Allicillin, Grapefruit seed extracts: strongly antibacterial, but very harsh. Berberine:
also a bit harsh, but less cold than Hydrastis, Bile salts, Bismuth salts, Biocidin, Okoubaka: mainly for
Salmonella, Shigella, Una de Gato: considered antibacterial, but really is a terrain changer, and
antimalarial. NotaSAN with RoquefoSAN and SubtiSAN can alert the immune system to gut pathogens
that are being ignored
Antifungal

Tanalbit: gentle and mildly astringent

Tanafem: a douche preparation that also works well for oral thrush

Caprylic Acid

Undecynoic Acid

Oregano oil

Allicillin

CandidaSAN (sanPharma): CandidaSAN is not for fighting yeast infections

or killing fungus. It is probably the most important sanPharma remedy

and the most misunderstood; it is not a stand-alone remedy.

CandidaSAN will eliminate dysbiosis and restore ecology to the gut by

modulating the immune functions of the GALT.

CandidaSAN/RoquefoSAN suppositories, like straight CandidaSAN, do

NOT kill fungus in the gut! The remedy will favorably alter the terrain to

support eubiosis.

Penicillium group remedies: These remedies are anti-fungal simply by the

nature of terrain change and anti-inflammatory actions. They

technically belong in the “generally useful group”, rather than by

organism.

Mucan: This remedy also does not kill fungus! It removes fungus-derived

toxins from the matrix

Replace: replace any deficient digestive secretions so as to make a more complete digestion
occur/needed digestive supports such as hydrochloric acid, bile salts or lipotrophic agents to improve
bile production and viscosity, or digestive enzymes of pancreatic or fungal origin:

HCI: Betaine HCI or Digestzymes

Bile salts: LV-GB Complex or Digestzymes

Lipotrophic factors: Digestzymes, Inositol, Phosphatidyl Choline

Enzymes: There are many options for enzymes, both pancreatic and fungal origin. Either
one tends to work for digestive support. If high doses are taken between meals for an
anti-inflammatory effect, we tend to use more fungal origin enzymes, as sometimes
pancreatic enzymes are irritating to the pancreas in higher closes. Don’t confuse anti-
inflammatory use of enzymes for fibrinolytic uses. Digestive enzymes are very inefficient
fibrinolytics.
