New Normal Comeback
By: Niegelyn Coriento
November 2, 2022 as the Department of Education announce the mandatory face to face
class both public and private school as stipulated in Dep. Ed. order 34, series of 2022. Designed
by Vice President and DepEd Secretary Sara Duterte Carpio.
Together with the opening of the class and starting the new way of learning the DEPED
mandated to have an enough safety tool within the school to prevent the spread of the disease.
Example of it is the limited face to face classes where only half of the population of the school
will be attending the face-to-face class every day.
Also, part of the preparation of the face-to-face classes, stickers that will be place in
every corner to remind students about the safety protocols. The use of alcohol for disinfection is
a must.
Distance learning is the hardest challenge that happened to the life of both student and
educators. And now, it is the time to go back to the new normal with some adjustments. But by
helping each other in facing those challenges everything will be easy and everyone can adjust.

Wearing of School Uniform
By: Katherine Kaye Napao

In this modern era where, trends, styles, and fashions. It is said that wearing a school uniform is still the
best choice for it makes a student more disciplined and responsible.

For me as a student, wearing a school uniform is important for it helps in our self-confidence and a sense
of community in the environment of the school. The most important thing is to make everyone feel equal.
A uniform symbolizes a sense of belonging and helps to build a community and school pride amongst
students. It makes planning what to wear be less of an issue.

This point has some merit on the surface, but school is not a place for a fashion show. It is a place of
temple where everyone should be in discipline. Students are welcomed to gain knowledge not to judge
each other on the basis of looks and dresses. Many students these days prefer to wear expensive clothes in
order to fit in while the others wear cheap ones. By wearing the way, they know who are rich and poor.
Therefore, it will make a difference between students and create discrimination, which means there are
two groups that exist in the school: the wealthy and the poor. By wearing a school uniform, it destroys the
barriers between rich and poor and makes everyone equal.

As far as I’m concerned, each and every one of us suffers financially. By wearing school uniforms,
students who can’t afford expensive clothes would no longer feel excluded, and this can make students
more equal. Wearing a school uniform will help build a sense of unity within the school. This will also
help improve students’ individuality and improve their self-esteem.

Uniforms create guidelines for the students to follow, which is an aspect of life a student needs to learn.

In conclusion, uniforms can show unity of students of the school. Wearing a school uniform is always a
better choice. Uniform represents the identification of students, the respect to the school and also the
respect of being a student.

INSIGHT
My Adjustments
By: Chelzie Ramos
The whole world has come out of the worst war where the virus is invisible, where many died
and lost loved ones. And it seems like it targets everyone in the world. Now, the new normal is
very new to us. A year after COVID-19 pandemic has emerged, we have suddenly been forced to
adapt to the ‘new normal’: work-from-home setting, parents home-schooling their children in a
new blended learning setting, lockdown and quarantine, and the mandatory wearing of face mask
and face shields in public. We have to follow the advice so that COVID 19 does not spread
further according to WHO and DOH.
By reason of the pandemic, the whole world suddenly changed and many people died
unexpectedly, not only the world changed but also the physical, spiritual and behavior of each
person also had a drastic change because we stayed at home for almost 2 years due to COVID -
19 pandemic and as stated, the year 2020 is the “worst year” in the 21st century.
According to research the term ‘new normal’ first appeared during the 2008 financial crisis to
refer to the dramatic economic, cultural and social transformations that caused precariousness
and social unrest, impacting collective perceptions and individual lifestyles.3 This term has been
used again during the COVID-19 pandemic to point out how it has transformed essential aspects
of human life. Cultural theorists argue that there is an interplay between culture and both
personal feelings (powerlessness) and information consumption (conspiracy theories) during
times of crisis. I believe that the new normal can have a big impact in the future. Now that it is
the ‘new normal’, we are still adjusting to things that we haven’t been able to do for 2 years.
Above all, there are no more quarantines, there are face to face classes and you can go to certain
events. The cases in the Philippines are diminished and the number of those who follow the
policy is decreasing because it has been declared that it is fine not to wear facemasks and face
shields in public places. One of the things that should be done is to always put alcohol to avoid
bacteria that can be acquired outside.

LIFESTYLE
Coping with the Mental Health Issues
By: Niegelyn Coriento
Mental health is the most search issue in Google today. As of 2022, mental health issues like
anxiety and depression raise up to… around the world. When the face-to-face class for the school
year 2023 began, cases regarding mental health raise us and become more higher than the
previous year.
To prevent the raise of mental health issues, students must balance their time on academic and
enjoyment, limit using gadgets, never pressure yourself, always think positive, and find someone
to talk to.
Academic adjustment after the pandemic is uneasy. But try to balance your academic life and
your leisure activities. Avoid breakdowns, go relax if you feel tense with your lessons. Breath
some air by doing recreational activities like hiking or anything that can relieve your stress.
Limit using gadgets especially the use of social media. Many cases of suicide is cause by cyber
bullying. Therefore, be more responsible in using your social media accounts avoid posting
things that can ruin your dignity as a person that can urge people to make an issue. Spend time to
talk with your family instead.
Never pressure yourself. Always remember that what you did is enough to be seen and to be
appreciated. If life pulls you down, keep fighting and let the mistakes of past, be the lesson of
tomorrow.
Always think positive. Thinking negative things makes you depress therefore, do not treat things
in life hardly just go with the flow instead and tell yourself you can do it.
If you have any problems feel free to open up with someone you trusted the most. Feel free to
cry and let your tears fall. Remember that there is always someone who are always there to
listen. Such as your teachers, parents and most especially your friends.
Facing mental health issues is the hardest things in life. Treat your life as a treasure instead of
telling yourself to end your own breath. Learn to love yourself and accept all your imperfections.
Human as we are we have mistaken but our mistakes can’t define us as a person. Our fellow may
hurt us but we still have our self that can make us survive. Remember that God gives us
problems because he knows we can do it. No to mental health illness No to self-hatred.

THE GROUND BREAKING CEREMONOY
By: Raul Gavile Jr.
A ceremonial breaking of the ground to celebrate and formally begin a construction project. The goal
of a groundbreaking ceremony is to create excitement and memories. Ground Breaking on a life longing
dream is a milestone few get to experience. It's an opportunity to honor the past, celebrate the future, and
to recognize and thank all the people who played a part in getting the project started and those who will
be making it possible. The tradition of breaking the ground before a project, has been a long-time ritual,
this ritual represented making a sacred deposit to the earth, in exchange for a strong and lasting
foundation. They’re a ceremonial event where we gather to celebrate the start of a construction project on
the ground. Ground is often literally broken by way of a ceremonial shovel.
After the caravan of the grand alumni, representatives and stakeholders came to witness and participate in
the Groundbreaking Ceremony. Present in the event was Rev. Fr. Eugene Lucerna, II, PhD, President of
KCC, Rev. Fr. Richard L. Lachica, MAED, Chairman of the Commission of Education and the School
Director of San Ramon Catholic School Inc, Mrs. Mary Jane H. Faduga, City Administrator, City of
Himamaylan, Ms. Yvonne T. Madalag, LPT, MAELM, Principal, Je An M. De Leon, PTA President,
William, G. Balansag, LPT, Faculty Representative, Angelyn Odvina, SAO President, Mrs. Marilou S.
Cajuyong, Host Batch, Incharge, Alumni Representative.
The groundbreaking rite and blessing were the symbol of unity and effort of the different stakeholders to
realize the dream of having the new two-storey building. Surely, this is a beginning of the wonderful
years and decades ahead for our school. Truly, in His time.
This new building will emulate a good learning ambiance that will provide the students and faculty
members with the needed infrastructure to progress our school to even greater heights, achieve our vision,
and make an even more positive impact on transforming and improving lives for all.
As a celebration of new grounds, as it carries the name, San Ramon Catholic School Inc., shall continue
to provide quality education to its students and to continue its commitment to excellence.
In conclusion, this building will open more doors and opportunities for the future. It will provide
opportunities for our school to continue growing and expanding the quality of education for all students,
as well as opportunities for students to be better equipped and ready for their future lives, where they can
bring the lessons of their alma mater. The aforementioned groundbreaking ceremony and launch of
infrastructure mark another milestone in our quest to provide an excellent educational institution through
these facilities, which sooner or later will provide an adequate environment for learning for all
stakeholders. This development is a blessing from God, including the innovation of this school.
Behind this new milestone and investment that goes beyond the added space, it signifies a symbol of
pride, unity, hope, and value in education. Even in hard times, the school believes that education is
important among us. It goes beyond shaping us as individuals and enhancing our perspectives, helping us
become better citizens, and building a better society for future generations.

MY ESCAPE FROM DARKNESS

By: Niegelyn Coriento

Going into the war, having a fight with the soldiers, entering someone’s house without
permission, stealing farmer’s animals for us to have meat, convincing others to join our group
day by day, and having an unending travel with restless hours. Our move is limited, our opinions
are not valid. Every day was not peaceful, every hour was chaotic. Carrying a pistol every day
and following our commander will say. We have no freedom about everything our rights as a
person are just nothing. We are living in a miserable life.

One day, we have an encounter by the group of soldiers. At the middle of the battle, I was shoot,
my blood is flowing on the grass, my body is giving up. I want to give up for now, I want to
escape this war. But before I closed my eyes, I saw a soldier running towards me and tried to
wake me up. But I was so weak I can’t even speak. I want to take a rest.

“Sir yes sir” I salute to my officer. Two years ago, I wake up with a smell of alcohol and I found
myself laying on the hospital bed. As I turn my gaze around, I saw a man standing in front of me.
And after I recognize him, I weakly get out of bed and hug my father. I came from a family of
doctors they sent me to the most decent and expensive school here in the Philippines but I choose
to give up my good life and go with the group of terrorists. I betrayed my parents.

As I regret a lot of things from the past, I have decided to join the military. I tried to make right
what is wrong that I have done. I promise to myself that I won’t carry a gun again as a terrorist
but as a soldier that is willing to risk everything for the country. I am a proud snappy. In the
name of the Republic of the Philippines, Cprl. Kystel Larangan, now escaping my dark past.

THE LIFE OF A FRONT LINER

By: Nikki Coriento
I woke up early in the morning with a heavy heart, knowing that I will face my day as a doctor,
hearing the screams and cries of my patients. I’m not able to eat my breakfast cause I’m already
late. I drive my bicycle, I didn’t bother to book q grab, because my work is too risky.
On my first step in the hospital, I hear screams of pain and cry that broke my heart into pieces.
While roaming around I saw a mother crying because she can’t come near to her daughter,
because her daughter is suffering from this virus.
I turned back and continue my work “Doc! Doc!” said of an old woman rushing towards me
while crying “Please help!” Help my husband he can’t breathe. I run toward the said patient and
took him to the ICU. After the operation I go out from the ICU to inform the old lady that her
husband is fine, but he will be quarantine for 14 days for observation. I heard my stomach groan,
because I haven’t aet since I woke up. In my way towards the canteen, I saw my comrads
running to a person, I’m shock when I saw mang Kanor our janitor’s fainting.
I forgot to eat because my attention is on my patients. When the clock strike 6:30 I clean all my
things and change my cloth. I drove away from the hospital, and when I enter my house I cried, I
let my tears flow freely from my eyes. I can’t stop crying I take a bath thinking that it will ease
the pain the pain that I felt. I change and sanitize myself before eating. 8 o’clock in the evening
looking at the ceiling of my room. I remember something, my mom told me when I was a child,
she says that the best position in fighting is to kneel and put above your hands, so I do what she
says to “God of all I surr Zender to you all this pain that I suffer, guide me as i face another day,
make me stronger, give me courage to fight my problem, gave the strength to make my patients
smile despite of their illness. I will let your helping hands to guide me, this is all Lord, Amen”.
After I prayed, I feel my heart lighten and happy. Before I closed my eyes an image of the
smiling Filipinos where happiness can only be seen. It keeps rushing to my mind it serves as my
inspiration to face another day of life. I will do my best to bring back those smiles.
Being a frontliner is not an easy job we pick this profession not just for our own good but for of
all people who choose to fight their health problems. You may be saw us fearlessly face all the
viruses nor diseases and talk to patients every day, smiling and giving hope to all of you but deep
inside we our tired and drained. The only thing that keeps us fighting is the hope that someday
we will overcome this virus that spreading.
This is your doctor finally off duty!

Darkest to the Brightest Silver Lining

By: Christine Valeriano
Crying is the only thing she did the whole night, trying her best to accept that her beloved mother
has just passed away. Meren cries until she can’t open her eyes because of sobbing caused by
grief, her mother died because of Coronavirus. She can’t even give her mother a decent death
ceremony because of that infectious disease.
Days, months, and years have passed and she fully accepted that her mother is gone permanently,
now she needs to live her life to the fullest, those sleepless nights caused by her lost, and the
most darkest stage of her life is finally over, and look at her smiling at the front of the crowd and
hundreds of camera as the judge ask her, “ Since you’ve know the worth of living, what is the
important lesson that you’ve learned and still using that lesson to face life trials?”, she fixed her
hair a bit and correct her posture, “Well as I grow up, I slowly learned that it is so worth it to
live, yeah that’s true, once you’ve lost someone you love you will realized that life doesn’t end
there; life just starts to that point. As your life changes, you need to discover actions you can use
to face the trials, you need to discover skills, and attitudes that can help you to fight the
challenges brought by the sudden came of circumstances that can either bring you down or rise
you up. Because of the fact that once you’ve reached the darkest point of your life, you will
encounter a lot of struggles of living." Everyone applause and feel proud of Meren's answer. She
used the idea of the things happened on life to answer on such an easy question but needed a
meaningful and understandable answer.
At the end she is awarded as the newly-crowned Miss Universe, she brings home her crown with
joy and proud as she dedicated it to her mother that passed away years ago.

POEMS

"IMAHINASYON" Kung Pwede Pa Mabalik ang Nakaraan

Isinulat ni: Angel Mae Gordoncillo By: Krizza Mae Tadoy

Kung pwede pa maibalik ang nakaraan

hangad ko'y muli kang makamtan

Bawat gabi ay hindi makatulog,
Bawat segundo, minuto, oras
Malamig ang hangin at rinig mo ang kulog.
Di ko pwede mapapalampas.
Nakahiga sa malambot na kama at nakikinig,
Ng musika upang maka idlip.
Pwede bang maibalik ang nakaraan?

Nung tayo'y nagmamahalan

"Imaginary" "Healing"
Written by: Lianna Faith Depison By: Katherine Kaye Napao

My heart felt broken, my spirit low

Glittering eyes, full of smiles It seemed my pain would never be going to go
happy and proud all way around I thought I'd need a sword to move on
never shed a tear, never scream out in fear To pick up the pieces, try and be strong.
never shown any signs of disappointment
or any signs of annoyance My heart felt tired and I was unsure
How would I heal? what was the cure?
Betrayed, lied, broken hearted The answer came to me one day
still laughing at the pain Grieving is the price I must pay.
you stand there staring my delusive face
questioning what goes inside my mind Taking one step at a time I will go
contemplating on it if I'm really fine Healing tears will start to flow
While I know the past can't be undone
I am everything you wanted me to be I look forward as I start my run
everything and anything instead of me
you looked at me and see one of the Piecing back together my broken heart
happiest teens, Fear is replaced with a new start
never showing any signs of misleading This break-up became a learning phase
or doubt Though I was lost I will be okay
pleading on the inside not to let my feelings not
don't be fooled by what you see The way I feel is just another part
this is nothing but mirror imagery. Of the healing path that I must chart
My pain will ebb until finally, I'm free
To find strength and happiness in me
