Trip Vitals
VIRAATKHAI-CHAKRATA

SKETCH ITINERARY :

Day 1: Dehradun to Viraatkhai Camp (Drive/ 3 hrs)


Day 2: Viraatkhai Camp
Day 3: Viraatkhai Camp - Thath (Drive/ 2 hrs, Trek / 3 hrs)
Day 4: Thath - Nagtibba Top and Back to Thath (Trek/ 5-6 hrs)
Day 5: Trek to Pantwari Village – Drive to Viraatkhai Camp (Drive/ 2 hrs & Trek/ 3 hrs)
Day 6: Viraatkhai Camp (Chakrata) - Dehradun (Drive / 2.5 hrs)
DAY 1: DEHRADUN TO VIRAATKHAI CAMP (DRIVE/ 3 HRS)

. Start from Dehradun in the morning (07:00am) & reach the base camp
at Viraatkhai
. Reach the camp in the afternoon at around 10 am
. Program orientation & introduction session with the instructor
. Booster (activities to get the participants to know each other and get excited/
charged for the days to follow)
. Briefing on rope & rock activities followed by Abseiling & Valley traverse
. Principles of Leave No Trace to be shared with participants
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors
. Dinner and Lights off
DAY 2: VIRAATKHAI CAMP

. I Mad activities (creativity & collaboration based activities)


. Rope activities followed by Tree jumaring, Valley crossing, Burma Bridge,
Commando Net.
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors.
. Dinner and Lights off
DAY 3: VIRAATKHAI CAMP - THATH (DRIVE/ 2 HRS & TREK/ 3 HRS)

. Drive to Pantwari village


. Trek to Thath
. Learn Tent Pitching & Cook out in wilderness
. Navigation skill: How to use a compass & trekking orientation
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors
. Dinner and overnight in tents
DAY 4: THATH - NAGTIBBA TOP AND BACK TO THATH (TREK/ 7 HRS)

. After an early breakfast, we will hike up to Nag Tibba Top (3050 mts).
. From Thath in the beginning you pass through forests and meadows to reach the
Nag Tibba Top.
. Today, if the weather is clear you will get to see the famous Swargarohini,
Bandarpoonch, Neelkanth, Black peaks from the top.
. After spending some time at this vantage point you will head back to Thath.
. Towards evening sessions on emergency shelter making in wilderness.
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors
. Dinner & overnight in tents
DAY 5: TREK TO PANTWARI VILLAGE – DRIVE TO VIRAATKHAI CAMP (DRIVE/ 2 HRS &
TREK/ 3 HRS)

. Trek to Pantwari Village.


. From Pantwari drive to reach Viraatkhai camp by afternoon.
. Post lunch, second round of Rope activities like Rappelling, valley crossing,
Burma Bridge, commando net
. Alternatively we can organise an evening of folk dance & music presented by the
Jaunsari inhabitants of Chakrata.(On Prior Notice of 10 days)
. Towards late evening bonfire & dinner
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors.
. Overnight at Viraatkhai
DAY 6: VIRATKHAI CAMP (CHAKRATA) - DEHRADUN(DRIVE/ 2.5 HRS)

. Early morning short hike around Campsite.


. Principles of Leave No Trace to be shared with participants & implemented
. Celebration of the successful completion of the program
. Experience sharing with other participants & instructors
. Post lunch, depart for the school
