AS LEVEL BLOOD DONATION QUESTIONS

1. Who may donate blood?


everyone can donate blood

2. How old do I have to be to donate?

you have to be 18 years old but in some countries you can donate blood between 16 and 17 years old.

3. Is there a maximum age limit for donating blood?

yes, it's 65 years old.

approximately 4.5 litres.

you can donate 470ml of blood.

5. How much do you have to weigh to donate blood?


yoiu have to weigh 50kg and also you have to take care of your health and feel well.

6. I have allergies, will that stop me from donating?


if you have mild allergies you can still donate blood, aslso if you are taking antihistamines.

7. What kinds of medication will prevent me from donating?

there are a ton of medication that will prevent you from donating blood but i will list some of them: HIV prevention, blood thinners, antiplatelet, etc.

8. Can I get AIDS from donating blood?


No, you can't get AIDS from donating blood because hospitals, blood banks and health care providers are really careful with the blood samples and the donator.

But no just only that all syringes and needles are used once.

9.How long does it take to donate?

When you donate your blood first, you will be seated properly and confortably then they will start to withdraw the blood from your

body which will take appoximately 8 to 10 minutes. Secondly, After your blood is withdrawn you can enjoy a snack and drink for 10 to 15 minutes before you can do your

usual things but the entire donation process will take you about an hour.,
10. How long will it take to replace my blood?
Your blood will be replaced in the next 24 to 48 hours. But your red blood cells will take between 4 to 6 weeks.

11. How often can I donate blood?


As mention in question number ten your red blood cells will take from 4 to 6 weeks to fully recover but the hospitals or donation centers will suggest you to comeback during

the 8th week.

12. What happens to my blood after I donate?


There are various way which your blood can be used. But these are the most common: The most common one will be that your blood will be donated to other person that needs

it because he was in an bleeding and have lost a lot of blood. But the person your are donating your blood to needs to have the same type of blood as yours. The next one could

be that your blood may be taken to laboratories which will putted in flusk and then taken to the centrifuges which will separate the red cells, the platelets and the plasma. These

might be helpful for them to make an research or another thing.

13. How will my blood be used by patients?

The blood may be used with people that have lost a lot of blood when they where bleeding. These process if called blood tranfusion, the procedure may vary in the type of hospitals

and the type of specialty that they have.

14. Will I find out my blood type?

Yes, you will find out what blood type you have because when you are donating blood that is the first thing that they will ask you. But if you dom't know what type of blood you

have don't worry they will make a test and verify what type of blood you have.
