Common Name: Chinese fan palm, chinese fountain palm. Family: Arecacea. Origin: Southern Japan, Taiwan, South China. Height: 1.8m 9m. Description: it is becoming common to see young Chinese fan palms used in masses as ground cover in both outdoor landscapes and interior scapes especially shopping malls. Small specimens looks great in pots and planters, and it is consider a good palm for small yards, and they are tough enough to survive hot city conditions. Light requirement: High. Common Name: Travelers palm, Traveler's tree. Family: Strelitziaceae. Origin: Islands of Madagascar. Height: reach 15m. Description: The traveller's palm is one of nature's most distinctive and remarkable plants. The traveller's palm has been described as being part banana plant and part palm tree. Its long leaf stems and deep green leaves look a lot like those of the banana and extend out from the trunk like the slats of a giant hand fan. Roystonea Regia:
Common Name: Royal palm. Family: Arecacea. Origin: Cuba Banama. Height: reach 22m. Description: this palm makes a memorable impression wherever it is grown. Massive and symmetrical with a smoothly sculpted trunk this palm looks almost artificial, like a denizen of an idealized Disney landscape. The trunk of the Royal Palm is swollen at the base. It constricts about halfway up and then bulges again just below the crown shaft creating a dramatic profile. The royal palm has pinnate leaves that can be up to about 3 m long. Description: Bismarckia is a magnificent palm that feature is known for its beautiful color. Several of these palm when placed together in a large residential setting can contrast dramatically providing a wonderful view. A row of Bismarck palms spaced 5m apart along each side of any entry road or walkway can form a dramatic impact. Uses: -serve as a focal point. - planted against a dark backdrop of foliage. - serve as living sculpture adding drama to the landscape. Common Name: Palmyra palm, Sugar palm. Family: Arecaceae. Origin: India. Burma & Celon. Height: reach 12m. Description: Sugar palm are the most useful palm in Asia. The fruit and seed is eaten raw or cook. The leaves is 3 meters across and strong that a person can stand or sit on it and the leave are use for thatching, mats, baskets, fans, hats, umbrellas, and as writing material. The black trunk are very large, hard and strong that use for valued for construction. The sugar palm is a natural symbol tree of Cambodia and grows all over the country. Common Name: Ribbon Fan Palm. Family: Arecacea. Origin: Australia. Height: reach 12m. Description: This palm is very similar to Livistona Australia, only the fan leaves are even more finely divided and very droopy. It is a slightly faster grower , and has very attractive dark green leaves when young and in full sun. However, it fades to a normal green colour with age. Light requirement: high (full sun). Common Name: Mexican Petubia. Family: Acanthaceae. Origin: Mexico. Description: The Mexican petunia is a tender evergreen perennial that forms colonies of steamy stalks standing 0.9 m in height and of indeterminate width. The toothed leaves are arranged alternately and vary a lot, but tend to be large, dark green, and shiny. This plant has a coarse texture and may be upright or broad and spreading. Yucca Aloifolia:
Common Name: Spanish bayonet, Yucca. Family: Agavaceae. Origin: Coastal areas from north Carolina to Mexico, and West Indies. Height: 2.4-6m. Description: has an erect trunk7.6-12.7 cm in diameter. The trunk is armed with sharp pointed strap like leaves each about 6cm long. The young leaves near the growing tip stand erect; older ones are reflexes downward, and the oldest wither and turn brown, hanging around the lower trunk like an Hawaiian skirt. Eventually the tip of the trunk develops a 0.6 m long spike of white, purplishtinged flowers, each blossom about 12.7 cm across. After flowering, the trunk stops growing, but one or more lateral buds are soon formed, and the uppermost becomes a new terminal shoot.
