Caito The Story
Caito’s Journey is a story about self-growth, overcoming innocence and ignorance, and finding
purpose on fighting for the greater good, equality and freedom.
Caito lives a happy life, on a tiny village at the edge of the kingdom, where he trains daily with his
brother under Grandma Hellen’s tutellage to become the next leaders of the Border Patrol, Between
training, chores and family time at dinner, he’s a happy kid who knows his place in the world and what
he’s supposed to be.
When a Faunean rebellion invades his village, causing the death of his Grandma, Caito’s life is upended.
With no safety net, he is forced to leave the remains of his village behind to search for his brother.
Caitober
In October 2019 we decided to create a challenge for ourselves to dive into the concept development
of our characters from Caito’s Journey. Then we thought - why not invite everyone to join in too?
So we came up with a series of 30 prompts, ranging from outfit variations to magic and weapons,
props and inventory, allies and enemies.
We ended up getting so much world building content out of Caitober that it allowed us to finish a pitch
that is currently in development by a team of producers.
We can’t share any new content we’ve created for Caito’s Journey since then, but we decided to
compile everything we have published so far into this zine, and we hope you guys enjoy it!

Where Caito starts his adventures by
himself, he wins valuable allies throughout
his adventures. Not only he teams up with
a fierce rogue and a powerful mage, he
also counts with the support of all their
mentors and family members.
Melony and Fiona

Caito’s party members and best friends are mighty and loyal, but
it didn’t all start like this. Fiona is a sneaky fugitive who’s had to
earn her freedom through teeth and claw (and daggers). She’s
lived the hard life and blames all Humans for it. She’s more
surprised than anyone when she sees herself joining Caito on
his quest. Melony is a confident mage student that only slightly
overestimates her abilities. She tags along with Caito and Fiona
to prove herself as the next big fruit bender. Fate brought them
together and througout their adventures they become best
friends and a powerful team to fight the forces of evil withing
the Kingdom of Roviell.

Items & Equipment
Fighting monsters, exploring dungeons and completing quests can result in some serious
loot! Any equipment can be upgraded with the right tools, but some great weapons need no
enhancement. Leveling up allows the party to use stronger, sturdier armors and outfits. Some
of them not only boosts defense, but can also add bonuses such as elemental, poison or magic
resistance.
Buffs and Healing

It’s easy enough to find shops and travelling merchants to purchase some goods. Wild food might be
tasty, but nothing beats a well cooked meal or potion. There’s only so much an adventurer can carry,
though. One must choose wisely what’s important to take on a quest and what’s best left behind.
Or maybe bribe some creatures to magically deepen the pockets of a bag of holding?

The Villains
King Eric and his advisor Hans van Boogen are responsible for ruling the entire Kingdom of Roviell.
The truth is, the King is a spoiled brat that has to be managed by Hans, who prevents him from starting
wars every other day for the stupidest reasons.
Minions and Generals

No king can rule without a massive court and army at his back. King Eric counts with street gangs and
evil lords to do his biddings and keep everything in check. All seems to be going well until Caito and
his partners start becoming famous around several parts of Roviell, being called heroes and saviours,
which might interfere with the crown’s evil plans.

The Kingdom of Roviell
The Kingdom of Roviell hasn’t seen peace in a long time. Its
population is segregated between Humans and Fauneans,
who most definitely do not coexist amicably. Ever since
the Great War, when the Fauneans lost to Human magic
despite having the advantage in strength and numbers,
they were enslaved, no longer considered nor treated like
people with rights and opportunities.
The Legendary Vestiges, which gave Humans power to win
the War, got lost in time. So army camps and walls were
built to safeguard the Human populace from Wild Fauneans
who live outside the Kingdom, and a Peacemaker Guard
was trained to keep the peace among species within it.
