Customer states:
The Start-Stop system does not work.
A Start-Stop malfunction message comes on.
Workshop findings:
The customer concern can be reproduced.
The following DTCs must be active/static in the engine control module (ECM), J623 (address word 0001):
DTC P181C00 (gear recognition sensor, implausible signal).
DTC P181E00 (gear recognition sensor, gear position implausible).
DTC P181E00 (gear recognition sensor, gear position implausible).
Tip: If the DTCs are sporadic/passive, there is probably a wiring problem or rodent damage and this TSB
does not apply.

Technical Background
Magnetic debris from normal wear can accumulate on the -G604- gear recognition sensor.
Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
If the wiring for the -G604- gear recognition sensor are correct, proceed as follows:
1. Remove the -G604- gear recognition sensor and clean it thoroughly.
2. Reinstall the -G604- gear recognition sensor according to the Elsa Repair Manual, replace the bolt, and torque
to 8 Nm + 60°.
3. Clear fault and test drive to confirm the repair.

Claim Type: 110 up to 48 Months/50,000 Miles.
G10 for CPO Covered Vehicles – Verify Owner.

only.
