Creating an Account
You should have received an email from your instructor providing you with a key: a unique 10-digit code to establish an
account.

1. Navigate to www.pinnacleprodev.com/
2. Click the My Resources button in the upper-right corner of the screen.
3. Click the link in the lower-right portion of the screen where it reads New student? Register a new account: Click
here
4. Type in your user details such as name, address, etc. NOTE:
a. You can choose your own password, provided it’s a strong password
b. The password is not the same as the key. Towards the bottom of the form, it will ask for your key, which
you received from your instructor. Once you redeem your key, you’ll never need it again.
c. You now have six months access to your resources.

NOTE: All tools were created and tested with Google Chrome, as well as newer versions of IE, FireFox, Opera, and other
browsers. You will often have problems if using these tools using older versions of browsers such as IE such as IE7 and
IE8. If you are having performance problems or experiencing bugs (e.g., odd formatting of practice questions), Google
Chrome is your most reliable option.

Downloading Resources
You should download your user materials from the website such as your manual, exercise files, templates. All files are
contained in a single ZIP file.

1. Click the Download…Student Resources icon. Depending on your browser, the file will be saved somewhere on
your computer or it will prompt you for a location.
2. The file is a ZIP file. Expand the files within the ZIP file to a location of your choosing.

Note: the copyright license you agreed to permits you to have the files on more than one computer, but only you can
use these files: redistributing them is prohibited.

The files included in the ZIP download vary by class, but some of the important files include:

All PMBOK Guide Processes with ITTOs. This file shows page 25 of the PMBOK® Guide, which shows the Process Group
and Knowledge Area for every processes. This file also shows every input, tool and technique, and output for every
process, organized by Knowledge Area. This file was created to reduce the need to search through hundreds of pages of
the PMBOK® Guide to find and study these tables. However, please keep in mind that memorizing every input, tool and
technique, and output is not a wise exam preparation approach. Most questions will ask you to comprehend or apply
these items: what is the purpose, benefit, and/or drawback of each item, as well as why each item is a logical input,
tools, or technique. “Understanding” is much more important than blindly memorizing the lists.

All PMBOK Guide Processes Flowchart. This chart shows all 49 PMBOK® Guide processes on a single, very large page.
Each process shows the primary outputs and the relationships between related processes in the process’s Knowledge
Area. As it indicates at the bottom of this document, this graphic does not show the multitude of interdependencies
between processes in different knowledge areas. Including every process interdependency would have rendered the
document unreadable and perhaps incomprehensible. For the PMP® exam, expect questions that will test your
knowledge of the flow of processes, often within a single Knowledge Area. Make sure to read your student manual and
the PMBOK® Guide for the list of all inputs and outputs for all processes.

All Word Examples and Templates and All Excel Templates: These files contain over 40 templates based on the current
version of the PMBOK® Guide. Though not necessary to use while studying for the exam, it provides examples of many
of the documents discussed in the PMBOK® Guide and those found on the PMP® and CAPM® exam.

PMP Student Manual (alternatively, this file might be slightly different names based on the training organization that
hosted your training). The primary student manual that covers all chapters of the PMBOK® Guide as well as other topics
potentially found on the exam. This should be your main study tool for the exam.

PMBOK-guide-6th-errata: The first two releases of the PMBOK® Guide included some minor errors. You can determine
whether your PMBOK® Guide is one of these older versions by consulting the first page of this errata document. Note:
the current version of your PMP Student Manual reflects all corrections indicated in the errata document.

PMP and CAPM Practice Questions: This document includes practice questions for each lesson your PMP Student
Manual. This file is designed for in-class use. After you complete the class, you should use the Exam Simulator
application included as part of your PMP® and CAPM® subscription. There are over 1,000 questions online to test your
knowledge.

pmp-certification-exam-outline January 11, 2016: Written by PMI, this document lists every area tested on the exam,
organized by process group. In other words, this is PMI’s PMI® test objectives. Please note, each test area has been
included in the primary slide deck in the appropriate spot

The Exam Simulator

The exam simulator contains well over 1,000 practice questions, many questions containing many variations, resulting in
tens of thousands of different questions. If you want to target one or more areas of the exam, the exam simulator can
pull certain types of questions.

Targeting Questions from One or More Processes

This option allows you to target one or more process groups (e.g., Initiating or Planning)

Targeting Questions from One or More Processes
This option allows you to target one or more Knowledge Groups (e.g., Scope, Cost.) If you find that you are not scoring
well on a particular PMBOK® Guide chapter, this is an excellent option to help you target these areas.

Simulated PMP Exam

This option pulls questions from the database in the same ratios as the actual PMP® exam. This is an excellent option
after you have read all chapters of your student manual (and the PMBOK® Guide) and practiced with banks of questions
that target one chapter at a time.

Other Test Options

Other test option include the number of questions for you exam, whether you want to see the correct answer after each
question (the actual PMP® will not do this,) and whether you want a timed test with an average time of 72 seconds per
question (like the actual PMP® exam.) Please note the suggestions and warnings such as timing out due to inactivity.

Definition Flashcards
The application contains over 500 terms with associated definitions taken directly from the PMBOK® Guide. This
application will randomly pull a flashcard and show either the term or the definition, and your job is to provide a
reasonably close definition (if given a term) or guess either the correct term (If given a definition).

There are two, very similar options with this application: random order and shuffled order. Showing the flashcards in
random order will pull a random term or definition from the database. Each time you click the Next Flashcard button, it
pulls a term. With this option, it’s possible, though unlikely it can pull the same term or definition.

Showing the flashcards in shuffled order treats the flashcards like a deck of cards. It pulls a definition or term. If you
correctly identify the definition or term, you can “discard” this flashcard, so you won’t see it again (until you exit and
restart the flashcards.)

The Show Hint Button
When reading a term or definition in the flashcard application, you can ask for a hint. Clicking the Show Hint button will
provide you with four options, essentially changing the flashcard into a multiple choice question.

After clicking the radio button of the option you think is the correct answer and clicking the Check Answer button, you’ll
see whether your answer was correct.

ITTO Flashcards
ITTO (Input, Tool and Technique, and Output flashcards test your knowledge of the 49 processes. This application has
many features in common with The Exam Simulator, which is described earlier in this document. You can focus on one
or more PMBOK® Guide process groups (e.g., Initiating, Planning), or one or more PMBOK® Guide Knowledge Area (e.g.,
Scope, Cost.)

This application will choose one of the 49 PMBOK® Guide processes, then randomly ask you about the inputs, tools or
techniques, or outputs. Either one or two of the randomly selected answers will be correct. (Note: the actual PMP® and
CAPM® exams only have one correct answer per question.) For example: this flashcard is testing on the process Collect
Requirements. Two potential answers have been selected.

Upon clicking the Check Answer button, the application shows that one answer was correct (Requirements Traceability
Matrix), one answer was incorrect (Verified Deliverable), and one option should have been selected, but it was not
selected (Requirements Documentation.)

Note: Clicking the Show ITTOs for the process button shows the full list of ITTOs for the
