GENERAL DESCRIPTION CONNECTING THE AVR

The AVR has one 4-slot and one 2-slot connector.
The VR3.1B is a half wave voltage regulator designed Connect generator wires according to FIGURE A and
for brushless generators whose nominal phase or line wiring diagrams in FIGURE B (for 120V sensing) or
voltage is in the range of 90 – 260 Vac, 50 or 60 Hz, FIGURE C (for 240V sensing). Make sure connection
and exciter current does not exceed 4 Adc. This unit with wires is solid, not loose, so they do not unplug
has auxiliary / power inputs for improved dynamic during generator set operation and vibration. Test
performance. connection by trying to pull out wires by hand.

TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS Also, please be sure to double check connections so

as not to damage the AVR or generator due to
incorrect wiring. Also, please make sure the

AUXILIARY INPUT
MOUNTING THE AVR The auxiliary windings are set into the generator
It is recommended to mount the AVR in a position stator slots. The auxiliary input wires provide a direct

FIGURE D - Installing VR3.1B on Generators without Aux Winding

When superseding from the VR3.1, you will likely not an Auxiliary Winding. T
In this case, you will need to jumper the Aux L1 and L2 to the Sensing
terminals as shown in the below diagram.
