1. GENERAL INFORMATION
Purpose of the Rig Up Procedure is for the safe and detailed working practices for
personnel to conduct Rig Up process on the Hydraulic Workover Unit Halliburton,
thereafter described as HWUHALL.
This procedure will describe a systematic step by step installation guideline on the
safe operation for HWUHALL.
The HWUHALL is installed and utilized on both land and off-shore locations. On
land the crane is necessary for lifting each assembly part HWUHALL and setting it
down on the BOP wellhead/platform. For off-shore operation the various packages
comprising the HWUHALL are assembled, erected, or installed using the platform
cranes and equipment.
All personnel involved with Rigging Up shall have read the procedure before starting
the test.
2.1 Ensure a layout plan for locating the fuel tank, power pack, skid beam, sub
structure, work area, ladder / staircase, gin pole, jack structure, work basket,
etc.…, so that crane lifting up, guying the unit, and installation of the work
basket is facilitated. Be sure to consider access to pipe rack and/or others
item to be inserted or extracted from the well.
2.2 Ensure that reliable and adequate anchors are available with a holding
capability equal to or greater than the strength of the guywire.
2.3 Inspect all item for possible damage incurred during transport or loading/off-
loading operations.
2.4 Ensure that all safety rules and regulations have been implemented to protect
installation personnel equipment.
3. HWUHALL INSTALLATION
The following general sequence installation of the HWUHALL.
1. Attach crane to sub assembly of HWUHALL (skid beam, sub structure, ss-
adaptor, etc..) and lift over wellhead/platform area.
2. Align each sub assembly properly (refer to installations layout for detail) and
secure with bolts and nuts.
3. Install guywire from sub structure, work basket, and gin pole to anchors to
ensure complete stability of the unit. CAUTIONS, keep unnecessary
personnel clear of the wellhead/platform area and do not allow anyone on
the unit until guying operations are completed and checked.
6. Refer to the specific section of installation layout for each sub assembly rigging
up.
