Suitable extinguishing media: Water Spray, Alcohol-resistant foam, Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry chemical
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus pressure-
demand, MSHA/NOISH (approved or equivalent and full protective
gear
Precautions for fire-fighting Never use welding or cutting torch on or near drum (even empty)
because product (even just residue) can ignite explosively. Wear full
firefighting turn-out gear (full Bunker gear), and respiratory protection
(SCBA). DO NOT direct a solid stream of water for foam into hot,
burning pools of liquid since this may cause frothing and increase fire
intensity. Frothing can be violent and possibly endanger any firefighter
standing too close to the burning liquid. Use water spray to cool fire
exposed containers and structures until fire is out if it can be done with
minimal risk. Avoid spreading burning liquid with water used for
cooling purposes.
Hazardous Combustions Products Carbon oxides
Handling: Store in a cool, dry, well ventilated area away from heat or flame. Do not destroy or
deface the label on container.
Adhere to work practice rules established by government regulations.
Use only in well-ventilated areas. Avoid contact with eyes. Avoid breathing vapors
and/or aerosols. Use personal protective equipment. When using, do not eat, drink or
smoke.
Storage Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place. Containers which
are opened must be carefully resealed and kept upright to prevent leakage. Store
away from incompatible materials. Keep away from children
Eye/Face Protection Wear tightly fitting safety goggles to prevent getting into eyes or face, avoid spray
or splashing when dispensing liquid. For bulk handling wear suitable protective
glasses or goggles
Skin and Body Protection Wear chemical resistant gloves, long sleeve and trousers without cuffs
Respiratory Protection Domestic quantities require no special requirements with normal careful use. When
handling bulk quantities, avoid breathing mist or vapors. When ventilation is
inadequate and mist or vapors are generated, respiratory protective equipment should
be used suitable for protecting against airborne contaminants.
General Hygiene considerations Use good personal hygiene practices
