Analysis
Grade 7
The mean score of the learners in grade 7 Mathematics is 26.05 and the MPS is 65.12%
which indicates that the learners are closely approximating mastery. The top 3 least mastered
skills are: operations on polynomials, and solving problem involving polynomials.
Grade 8
The mean score of the students in grade 8 is 23.50 and the MPS is 58.65%. The students
are moving towards mastery. Based on the top 3 identified least mastered skills, the students
have difficulty in finding the slope of the line given the graph, two points and equation, graphing
a linear equation given any two points, the x and y-intercept, the slope and a point on the line,
and slope and y-intercept, and solving systems of linear equation by graphing, elimination and
substitution. One of the mathematics characteristics is having abstract study objects in the form
of facts, concepts, principles, and operations. Understanding linear equation and its application
is remarkably complex and involves many levels of abstraction. Student’s difficulties in graphing
and solving linear equations can occur due to lack of understanding of mathematical objects in
the form of facts, concepts, operations, and principles.
Grade 9
The mean score of the learners in grade 9 Mathematics is 13 and the MPS is 51.59%
which indicates that the learners are moving towards mastery. The top 3 least mastered skills
are: Solve problems involving variations, simplifies expressions with rational exponents, and
perform operations on radical expressions .This happened because the learners have poor
foundation on fractions.
Grade 10
The mean score of the learners in grade 10 Mathematics is 28.21 and the MPS is 70.53%
which indicates that the learners are closely approximating mastery. The top 3 least mastered
skills are: Applying the distance formula to solve some geometric properties, illustrating the
center-radius form of the equation of a circle, and determining the center and radius of circle
given its equation and vice versa.
Action Taken
To aid the learning gaps of the students for better academic performance, the following are
recommended action to be taken:
