Timing Belt Installation (LE6)

1. Align the camshaft sprocket timing marks (1). Install the EN-9806539 Holding Fixture (3).
2. Align the crankshaft sprocket timing marks (2).

Note: Ensure the lock lug (1) on the tensioner is positioned into the oil pump housing depression
correctly.
3. Install the timing belt tensioner (3) and bolt (4), do not tighten fully.
Note: Use care to not disturb the camshaft and crankshaft sprockets from the timing marks.
4. Install the timing belt (2).

5. Hold the tensioner bolt (1) and apply tension to the belt by rotating the tensioner lever (3) counter
clockwise until the tension timing needle is in the position shown (2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution.
6. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 22 (16 lb ft).
7. Remove the EN-9806539 Holding Fixture.
8. Turn the crankshaft two rotations clockwise after installing the timing belt. This will take up the
slack in the timing belt.
9. Confirm again that the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned properly.

Note: For installation of a new timing belt, follow steps 9–12. For installation of a used timing belt,
follow steps 13–16.
10. Loosen the tensioner bolt and release tension on the belt by rotating the tensioner lever clockwise
until the tension timing needle (1) is in the position on the timing gauge (2) as shown.
11. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 22 (16 lb ft).
12. Turn the crankshaft two rotations clockwise after installing the timing belt.
13. Confirm again that the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned properly.

14. Loosen the tensioner bolt and release tension on the belt by rotating the tensioner lever clockwise
until the tension timing needle (1) is in the position on the timing gauge (2) as shown.
15. Tighten the tensioner bolt to 22 (16 lb ft).
16. Turn the crankshaft two rotations clockwise after installing the timing belt.
17. Confirm again that the camshaft and crankshaft sprocket timing marks are aligned properly.
