• Low emission.
Engine description

Crankcase The crankcase is made of special-grade cast iron.

Crankshaft The crankshaft is made of CrMo-steel and is fitted in the crankcase.

The counterweights are bolted on the crankshaft.

Torsional vibration damper A viscous-fluid damper or a rubber damper is mounted on the crankshaft.

Cylinder liner The water-cooled cylinder liner is made of special-grade highly wear-resistant centrifugal cast
iron.

Connecting rod The obliquely split connecting rod with serrated mating faces is made of alloyed steel.

Piston The piston is made of a light alloy.

Cylinder head The cylinder head is made of a special-grade cast iron and has one inlet and one exhaust valve.

Camshaft The gear driven camshaft is made of steel. The cams of the camshaft are induction-hardened.

Injection pump The injection pump is of the block-type.

Governor Mechanical speed governor, mounted on the injection pump.

Hydraulic or electronic governor on request.

Fuel system The delivery pump is mounted on the injection pump.

Duplex filter.

Lubricating oil system The engine has a forced oil circulation via an engine-mounted gear pump. In case of a dry
sump, a suction pump is mounted additionally. The system is provided with a duplex filter. A
lubricating oil cooler is mounted on the engine.

Starting system An electric starter starts the engine.

Upon request: compressed air starting via starting valves mounted in the cylinder heads or a
starter motor.

Cooling water system Indirect cooling system; heat exchanger with thermostat, expansion tank, circulation pump
for fresh water, self-priming centrifugal pump for raw water. TBD engine types: the charge air
cooler has a separate cooling circuit.

Exhaust gas system Engine type TBD has uncooled exhaust manifolds. Insulation on request.
Engine type D has cooled exhaust manifolds. Upon request: uncooled.

Charge air system Intake air filtration via oil-bath or dry-type air filter.

Turbocharging Engine type TBD has water-cooled turbocharger(s) and a charge air cooler.

Classification By all established classification societies.

EIAPP The engine can be provided with an EIAPP certificate if it complies with the NOx Technical Code
according IMO regulations MARPOL 73/78 - Annex VI.

1) ISO power to DIN 6271 / ISO 3046-1 is determined under operating conditions of the manufacturer’s test bed and adjusted to
the following reference conditions:
27 °C intake air temperature, 27 °C charge air coolant temperature, barometric pressure 1000 mbar, relative humidity 60%.
2) The fuel consumption values are related to the indicated engine output and full load as per DIN 6271 with a tolerance of +5%,
when using a fuel with a lower calorific value of at least 42,700 kJ/kg.
