Learning Task 13: Accomplishing My Exit and Evaluation Forms

Performance Task 1
Narrative Experiences
My teaching internship was a life-changing opportunity that helped me improve my
teaching abilities, gain experience in the classroom, and have a positive influence on the lives of
my students. I will reflect on my teaching internship in this narrative report, sharing specific
experiences, difficulties encountered, accomplishments made, and lessons discovered during this
formative time.
I was placed in Del Monte National High School for my teaching internship, a vibrant
learning community that catered to Grade 8 - Science students. The classroom environment was
dynamic and diverse, with students representing various backgrounds, abilities, and learning
styles. The supportive school community and the guidance of my mentor teacher provided a
solid foundation for my internship journey.
During my internship I actively participated in collaborative planning sessions and team
meetings. These activities provided a platform for me to contribute ideas, collaborate with other
teachers, and align my lesson plans with curriculum objectives. Engaging in these discussions
allowed me to learn from experienced educators, exchange innovative teaching ideas, and
understand the importance of collaboration in achieving educational goals. As the internship
progressed, I had the opportunity to co-teach lessons with my mentor teacher and assist other
lead teachers in the school. These hands-on experiences allowed me to apply my knowledge and
skills in the classroom setting. I actively participated in delivering instruction, facilitating
discussions, providing individualized support to students, and assessing their progress. These
activities sharpened my teaching abilities, honed my communication skills, and enhanced my
ability to adapt instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners. As my confidence grew, I
gradually took on the responsibility of planning and delivering lessons independently. This
involved designing instructional materials, creating engaging activities, and implementing
various teaching strategies to cater to different learning styles. Designing and delivering lessons
allowed me to put my creativity and pedagogical knowledge into practice. It also gave me the
opportunity to refine my presentation skills, adapt instruction in real-time, and receive valuable
feedback from students and mentors.
Another important aspect of my internship was engaging in student assessments and
progress monitoring. I learned how to administer and evaluate assessments, interpret the results,
and use data to inform instructional decisions. I worked closely with the lead teacher to analyze
student performance and adjust instructional strategies accordingly. This experience highlighted
the importance of using assessments as a tool for guiding student learning and ensuring
instructional effectiveness. Throughout the internship, I engaged in regular reflection and
professional development activities. I kept a journal to document my experiences, challenges,
and growth as an educator. Additionally, I attended workshops, conferences, and training
sessions to expand my knowledge of pedagogy, instructional technology, and classroom
management. These activities fostered a culture of continuous learning and professional growth,
reinforcing the importance of staying updated with current educational trends and best practices.
In conclusion, my teaching internship provided ample opportunities for observation and
engagement in various activities. Through observing experienced teachers, participating in
collaborative planning, co-teaching, creating and delivering lessons, assessing student progress,
and engaging in reflection and professional development, I gained invaluable insights and
experiences. These activities contributed to my growth as an educator, shaping my teaching
philosophy, and equipping me with essential skills and strategies to create a positive and
impactful learning environment for my future students. The lessons learned during my internship
will undoubtedly guide my teaching practices and professional development as I embark on my
teaching career.

Evaluation of Experiences
In this report, I will provide an evaluation of my teaching experiences during my
internship, assessing the strengths, areas for improvement, and overall effectiveness of my
teaching practice. Through reflection and analysis, I will examine the impact of my instructional
strategies, classroom management techniques, student engagement methods, and overall
effectiveness in achieving learning objectives.
During my teaching internship, several strengths emerged in my teaching practice. One
notable strength was my ability to create a positive and inclusive classroom environment. I
fostered a supportive and respectful atmosphere where students felt comfortable expressing their
thoughts and ideas. Additionally, I effectively implemented differentiated instruction to address
diverse learning needs, ensuring that all students had access to meaningful learning experiences.
Another strength was my proficiency in lesson planning. I carefully designed lessons that aligned
with curriculum objectives, incorporated engaging activities, and utilized various instructional
strategies to cater to different learning styles. This allowed me to maintain student interest and
promote active participation in the learning process. Furthermore, I demonstrated effective
communication skills in the classroom. I provided clear instructions, utilized appropriate
questioning techniques, actively listened to student responses, and provided constructive
feedback. This facilitated effective classroom discourse and enhanced student understanding.
While there were strengths in my teaching practice, there were also areas for
improvement that I identified during my internship. One area was classroom management.
Although I made progress in establishing routines and addressing behavior, I recognized the need
to further develop strategies to proactively manage disruptive behavior and maintain a
consistently positive and focused learning environment. Additionally, I aimed to enhance my use
of formative and summative assessments to accurately measure student progress and inform
instructional decisions. This involved implementing a variety of assessment methods, providing
timely and specific feedback, and using assessment data to adapt instruction effectively.
In evaluating the overall effectiveness of my teaching experiences during the internship, I
believe that I made a positive impact on student learning and growth. Students demonstrated
increased understanding of the subject matter, actively participated in classroom activities, and
showed improvement in their performance. I effectively utilized instructional strategies that
catered to diverse learning needs, allowing students to make meaningful connections and engage
with the content. Additionally, my commitment to creating a positive classroom climate
contributed to a conducive learning environment where students felt supported and motivated to
succeed. Through ongoing reflection and feedback from my mentor teacher and colleagues, I
continuously refined my teaching practice, adapting to the needs of my students and
implementing strategies that fostered their academic and personal development.
My teaching experiences during my internship showcased several strengths in my
practice, including creating an inclusive classroom environment, effective lesson planning, and
strong communication skills. However, there were areas for improvement, such as classroom
management, assessment practices, and student engagement. Overall, my teaching experiences
were effective in promoting student learning and growth. The strengths I identified, coupled with
my commitment to continuous improvement, will guide my future teaching endeavors. I will
continue to build upon these experiences, addressing areas for improvement to become a more
effective and impactful educator.
