3. Radiation
In The Netherlands the use of equipment emitting ionizing radiation is regulated by the Nuclear
Energy Act (Kernenergiewet). The law provides a framework. Actual measures to be taken are in the
form of decrees, general administrative measures and ministerial decisions.

The decree on Radiation Protection (BS Besluit Stralingsbescherming), regulates the protection of
workers and the general public from risks of exposure for all work involving radiation.

The decree requires a license for using ionizing radiation emitting equipment. The mobile CT-
scanner is part of the license issued by the Ministry and licensed to Toshiba Medical Systems
Europe.

Identification and evaluation of risks of actions during which exposure to ionizing radiation may
occur are identified an evaluated. A risk inventory and evaluation (RI&E) report for the mobile CT-
scanner can be made available for the license-holder of the hospital.

Toshiba Medical Systems Europe Radiation license number: 2008/2220-08 as published in the Dutch
th
Staatscourant on December 12 2008.
