First of all, we offer Puja and Praise for the Grace and Ridho of Allah SWT. because
without His Grace and Ridho, we cannot finish this paper properly and in time.

We do not forget to thank Drs. Kasron Muchsin Nasution, M.Ag as the English
Language Lecturer who guided us in the work of this paper. We also thank our friends who
have always been loyal to help in collecting data in the preparation of this paper. In this paper
we describe the biography of Abu Hurairah.

Maybe in the making of this paper there are errors that we don't know about, therefore
we ask for suggestions and criticisms from friends and lecturers in order to achieve a perfect
paper.

PREMILINARY
PENDAHULUAN
1. Background
1. Latar Belakang Masalah
Hadith is the second source of Islamic law after the Qur'an. If the Qur'an is a law containing the rules
and basics of Islam, whether it is a matter of aqidah, worship, morals, mu'amalah and so on, then the hadith
is an explanation as well as the practice of the Qur'an as a whole. Because hadith are all words, deeds, and
decisions that come from the Prophet Muhammad. What the companions heard and witnessed was passed on
to the next generation. There are many figures who have played a role in narrating Hadith from various
Tabaqat (Levels) especially among friends who met directly with the Prophet Muhammad. The Hadith they
heard they conveyed to other friends, besides that they were also very careful in accepting a Hadith.
Hadîts merupakan sumber hukum Islam kedua setelah al-Qur’ân. Jika al- Qur’ân merupakan undang-
undang berisi kaidah dan dasar-dasar Islam, baik itu masalah aqidah, ibadah, akhlak, mu‘amalah dan
sebagainya, maka hadîts merupakan penjelasan sekaligus pengamalan al-Qur’ân secara menyeluruh. Karena
hadîts adalah segala perkataan, perbuatan, dan ketetapan yang bersumber dari Rasulullah SAW . Apa yang
didengar dan disaksikan oleh para sahabat itulah yang sampai ke generasi setelahnya. Terdapat banyak tokoh
yang sudah berperan dalam meriwayatkan Hadîts dari berbagai Thabaqat (Tingkatan) terutama kalangan
sahabat yang bertemu langsung dengan Rasulullah SAW. Hadîts yang mereka dengar mereka sampaikan
kepada sahabat yang lain, disamping itu mereka juga sangat hati-hati dalam menerima sebuah Hadis.
The companions of the Prophet Muhammad narrated fewer hadiths than the other companions. For
example, Abu Bakr, Uthman, Talhah, Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqash, and so on. There are fewer hadiths narrated by
them than those narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah, Abu Sa'id al-Khudri, Abû Hurairah, Abdullah bin Umar bin
al-Khattab, Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Ash. The latter are considered as Fuqahâ' (Fiqh experts) from among
the companions. They always accompanied the Apostle and other companions, were highly knowledgeable,
and had more history than other companions. They are also given a long life, so that more people need them.
While many others died first, bringing their respective knowledge that had not been taught. And every friend
is considered to have narrated many hadiths if he has narrated more than 1,000 hadiths, there are seven of
them. Namely: Abû Hurairah (W: 57H) he narrated 5364 hadith, Abdullah bin Umar (W: 73H) 2360 hadith,
Anas bin Malik (W: 91H) narrated 2286 hadith, Sayyidah 'Â'isyah (W: 58H) she narrated 2210 hadith,
Abdullah bin Abbas (W:68H) he narrated 1660 hadith, Jabir bin Abdullah (W:78H) he narrated 1540 hadith,
and Abu Sa'id al-Khudri (W: 74H) he narrated 1170 hadith. In this paper will be discussed about the
biography of Abu Hurairah.
Para tokoh sahabat Rasulullah lebih sedikit meriwayatkan hadîts dari pada sahabat yang lainnya.
Seperti misalnya Abu Bakar, Ustman, Thalhah, Sa’ad bin Abi Waqqash, dan sebagainya. Hadîts yang
diriwayatkan oleh mereka lebih sedikit ketimbang yang diriwayatkan oleh Jabir bin Abdullah, Abu Sa’id al-
Khudri, Abû Hurairah , Abdullah bin Umar bin al-Khattab, Abdullah bin Amr bin al-Ash. Mereka yang
disebut belakangan itu dianggap sebagai Fuqahâ’ (Ahli fiqh) dari kalangan sahabat. Mereka selalu menyertai
Rasul dan para sahabat lainnya, berilmu tinggi, serta memiliki riwayat yang lebih dari sahabat-sahabat
lainnya. Mereka pun dianugrahi panjang umur, sehingga lebih banyak orang yang membutuhkan mereka.
Sementara sebagian lainnya banyak yang wafat terlebih dahulu dengan membawa ilmu masing-masing yang
belum sempat diajarkan. Dan setiap sahabat telah dianggap banyak meriwayatkan hadîts bila ia sudah
meriwayatkan lebih dari 1.000 hadîts, mereka ada tujuh orang. Yaitu: Abû Hurairah (W:57H) beliau
meriwayatkan 5364 hadîts, Abdullah bin Umar (W:73H) 2360 hadîts, Anas bin Malik (W: 91H)
meriwayatkan 2286 hadîts, Sayyidah ‘Â’isyah (W: 58H) beliau meriwayatkan 2210 hadîts, Abdullah bin
Abbas (W:68H) beliau meriwayatkan 1660 hadîts, Jabir bin Abdullah (W:78H) beliau meriwayatkan 1540

bahas mengenai biografi Abu Hurairah.

A. Biografi Abu Hurairah


Abu Hurairah's full name is Abdurrahman Ibn Sahr, while according to Ibn Hajar his full
name is Abdurahman bin Shakhir, Ibn Ghanam, Abdullah bin Aidz, Ibn Hani, Ibn Umar, Sukain bin
Wadzmah, Ibn Starmal, Ibn Shakhir, Amir bin Abdu Shams, Ibn Umair, Ghanam, Ubaid bin
Ghanam, Umar bin Ghanam, Abdu Shams, Ibn Amir and Said bin Harith and so on. According to
Hisham bin Kaili that his real name was Umair bin Amir bin Dzi Sa'id bin Tharif bin 'Ayan bin Abi
Shaib bin Hunayyah bin Sa'ad bin Sta'labah bin Sulaim bin Fahmi, bin Ghanam bin Daus. In the
Jahiliyyah era, his kunya name was Abu Aswad, after converting to Islam he was given the name
Abdullah and his kunya name was Abu Hurairah.
Nama lengkap Abu Hurairah adalah Abdurrahman Ibn Sahr, 1 sedangkan menurut Ibn Hajar
nama lengkap beliau ialah Abdurahman bin Shakhir, Ibnu Ghanam, Abdullah bin Aidz , Ibnu Hani,
Ibnu Umar, Sukain bin Wadzmah, Ibn Starmal, Ibnu Shakhir, Amir bin Abdu Syams, Ibnu „Umair,
Ghanam, „Ubaid bin Ghanam, Umar bin Ghanam, Abdu Syams, Ibnu Amir dan Said bin Harits dan
lain sebagainya. Menurut Hisyam bin Kaili bahwa nama asli beliau adalah Umair bin Amir bin Dzi
Sa‟id bin Tharif bin „Ayan bin Abi Shaib bin Hunayyah bin Sa‟ad bin Sta‟labah bin Sulaim bin
Fahmi, bin Ghanam bin Daus. Pada zaman Jahiliyyah nama kunya beliau yakni Abu Aswad, setalah
masuk Islam beliau diberi nama Abdullah dan nama kunya beliau Abu Hurairah. 2
The nickname is because he is very fond of animals and has a cat, which is always fed,
carried, cleaned and given a place. Abu Hurairah Radhiyallahu 'anhu is a Dausi from Bani Daus bin
'Adtsan. The Daus tribe comes from Al Azd. Meanwhile, Al Azd itself is a famous Yamaniah
Qathaniyah qabilah for its lineage, maintained until the highest grandfather of Al-Azd bin Al-
Ghauts. He was born in 598 AD. Abu Hurairah converted to Islam through Thufail bin Amir ad-
Dausy, one of the leaders of the Daus tribe. After he converted to Islam, he went to meet the
Prophet and intended for the Prophet with all his heart. He lived with a shuffah expert in the
Prophet's Mosque. Every time he could pray behind the Prophet and hear valuable lessons from
him.
Julukan nama tersebut karena beliau sangat penyayang terhadap binatang dan mempunyai
seekor kucing, yang selalu diberi makan, digendong, dibersihkan dan diberi tempat.3 Abu Hurairah
Radhiyallahu 'anhu adalah orang Dausi berasal dari Bani Daus bin „Adtsan. Kabilah Daus ini
berasal dari Al Azd. Sedangkan Al Azd sendiri merupakan qabilah Yamaniah Qathaniyah yang
terkenal silsilah nasab keturunannya, terjaga sampai kakek tertinggi Al-Azd bin Al-Ghauts . Beliau
dilahirkan pada tahun lahir 598 M. Abu Hurairah masuk Islam melalui Thufail bin „Amir ad-Dausy,
salah satu pemimpin suku Daus. Setelah beliau masuk Islam, beliau pergi menemui Nabi dan
berniat untuk Rasulullah dengan sepenuh hati. Dia tinggal bersama ahli shuffah berada di Masjid
Nabawi. Tiap waktu dia bisa shalat di belakang Nabi dan mendengar pelajaran yang berharga dari-
Nya.
Abu Hurairah had an old mother who loved him very much. Since he converted to Islam,
there has been no problem in life that has suppressed his feelings and burdened him, other than one
problem that he could barely close his eyes. The problem was about his mother, because at that time
he refused. Abu Hurairah, converted to Islam and was always with the Messenger of Allah, he was
25 years old. One day, his mother again said words that hurt Abu Hurairah about the Messenger of
Allah. Abu Hurairah was very sad. He met the Prophet while crying. And said "O Messenger of
Allah, I have invited my mother to Islam but she refused my invitation. Even today I just
approached him to convert to Islam, but instead he issued words that I did not like about you.

Therefore, pray to Allah to guide my mother to convert to Islam.” The Apostle prayed, "O Allah,
guide Abu Hurairah's mother."
Abu Hurairah mempunyai seorang ibu yang sudah tua dan sangat sayang kepadanya. Sejak
beliau masuk Islam, tidak ada persoalan hidup yang menekan perasaan dan memberatkannya, selain
satu masalah yang hampir tidak dapat memejamkan mata. Masalah itu ialah mengenai ibunya,
karena waktu itu ia menolak . Abu Hurairah, masuk Islam dan selalu bersama Rasululullah, beliau
berumur 25 tahun. Suatu hari, ibunya kembali mengatakan kata-kata yang menyakiti Abu Hurairah
tentang Rasulullah. Abu Hurairah sangat sedih. Beliau menemui Rasulullah sambil menangis. Dan
berkata “ya Rasulullah, aku telah mengajak ibu masuk Islam namun ia menolak ajakanku. Hari ini
pun aku baru saja mendekatinya agar masuk Islam, namun justru ia mengeluarkan kata-kata yang
tidak aku sukai tentang dirimu. Karena itu do‟akanlah kepada Allah agar memberikan petunjuk
kepada ibuku untuk masuk Islam”. Rasul Berdo‟a ”Ya Allah, berikanlah petunjuk kepada Ibu Abu
hurairah”.
After the Messenger of Allah prayed for his mother Abu Hurairah, he immediately met him
before opening the door he heard the sound of gurgling water, then heard his mother's voice. “Wait
at your place, son! After being invited in, Abu Hurairah was shocked, his mother wore a robe and
veil while saying two sentences of the creed. Abu Hurairah was very happy to see his mother
converted to Islam because her wish was fulfilled. He immediately went to the Messenger of Allah,
and he said, "Why are you crying, O Abu Hurairah?" Abu Hurairah replied, "I used to cry because I
was sad, now because I am happy." Thanks to the prayer of the Prophet his mother converted to
Islam and he really loved it, especially after his mother converted to Islam and he was very
respectful to him. From the circumstances of life above, in everyday life Abu Hurairah was a simple
person, he could even be called the poor. Even so, he looks very patient in dealing with his life, he
even holds back when he is hungry. In such a situation he fosters a gentle and generous attitude in
him. Abu Hurairah r.a. was a poor man at first, he had been asked by one of his wealthy masters for
his daughter, Bisrah bint Gazwan. This shows how Islam has changed one's outlook from liberating
class to flattering faith.
Setelah Rasulullah mendo‟akan ibunya Abu Hurairah, beliau langsung menemuinya
sebelum membuka pintu dia mendengar suara gemericik air, kemudian terdengar suara ibunya.
“Tunggu di tempatmu, Nak! Setelah dipersilakan masuk, Abu Hurairah kaget, ibunya memakai
pakaian gamis dan kerudung sambil mengucapkan dua kalimat syahadat. Abu Hurairah sangat
bahagia melihat ibunya masuk Islam karena keinginannya tercapai. Beliau langsung menemui
Rasulullah, dan beliau pun berkata “Mengapa engkau menangis wahai Abu Hurairah?” Abu
Hurairah Menjawab “Dulu aku menangis karena sedih, sekarang karena gembira.” Berkat Do‟a
Nabi ibunya masuk Islam dan beliau sangat menyangi terlebih setelah ibunya masuk Islam serta
beliau sangat hormat kepadanya.Dari keadaan kehidupan di atas, dalam kehidupan sehari-hari Abu
Hurairah adalah orang yang sederhana, bahkan dapat disebut fakir miskin. Meskipun demikian
beliau terlihat sangat sabar dalam mengahadapi kehidupannya, bahkan beliau menahan saat
kelaparan. Keadaan yang demikian beliau menumbuhkan sikap penyantun dan pemurah di dalam
dirinya. Abu Hurairah r.a. merupakan seorang yang miskim pada mulanya, dia telah dipinang oleh
salah seorang majikannya yang kaya raya untuk putrinya, Bisrah binti Gazwan. Ini menunjukkan
betapa Islam telah mengubah pandangan seseorang dari membebaskan kelas kepada menyanjung
keimanan.

B. Abu Hurairah R.A. Considered Noble Because of His Wisdom and Piety
B. Abu Hurairah R.A. Dipandang Mulia Karena Kealiman Dan Keshalihannya
Islamic behavior has glorified him, more than the glory of the Jahiliyah era which saw
nobility and wealth as a measure of glory. Since his marriage, Abu Hurairah divided his nights into
three parts: to read the Koran, to sleep and family, and to repeat the hadith. He and his family still
live a simple life even after becoming wealthy people. He likes to give alms, entertain guests, even
give alms at his house in Medina for his servants. Abu Hurairah was always with the Prophet for
four years, from the arrival of the Khaibar war until the Prophet's death. The period of four years is
a long time, full of good words, deeds and hearing, this four year period is divided into two obses,
namely first, he was always with Raslulullah for three years to gain knowledge from Him. Second,
one more year he was sent by the Messenger of Allah, to go preach to Bahrain with Ala al-Hadrami.

Perilaku Islami telah memuliakannya, lebih dari kemuliaan pada masa Jahiliah yang
memandang kebangsawanan dan kekayaan sebagai ukuran kemuliaan. Sejak menikah, Abu
Hurairah membagi malamnya kepada tiga bagian: untuk membaca Al-Quran, untuk tidur dan
keluarga, dan untuk mengulang-ulang hadis. Dia dan keluarganya tetap hidup sederhana walaupun
setelah menjadi orang berada. Beliau orang suka bersedekah, menjamu tamu, bahkan memberi
sedekah rumahnya di Madinah untuk pembantu-pembantunya. Abu Hurairah senantiasa selalu
bersama Rasulullah selama empat tahun yaitu sejak kedatangan perang khaibar hingga Rasulullah
wafat. Jangka waktu empat tahun merupakan waktu yang panjang lebar, penuh dengan perkataan,
perbuatan dan pendengaran yang baik, waktu empat tahun ini di bagi menjadi dua obsi yakni
pertama, beliau tiga tahun selalu bersama Raslulullah untuk menimba ilmu pengetahuan dariNya.
Kedua, satu tahun lagi beliau diutus oleh Rasulullah Saw, untuk pergi berdakwah ke Bahrain
bersama Ala al-Hadrami.
Before the Prophet died, he received a message from Him, including:
1. Stay away from things that are forbidden (haram), surely he will be the most 'Abid' (servant)
devoted among humans.
2. Be content with what the Lord has shared with him, he will surely be the most among people.
3. Do good to neighbors, nicaya he becomes a true believer.
4. Love people as you love yourself, he will surely be a real person.
5. Don't laugh too much because laughing too much kills the heart.
Sebelum Rasulullah wafat, beliau mendapat pesan dari-Nya, di antaranya
1. Menjauhi dari hal yang yang terlarang (haram), niscaya beliau akan menjadi orang yang paling
‘Abid (hamba) berbakti diantara manusia.
2. Bersikap ridha apa yang telah dibagikan Rabb kepadanya, niscaya beliau menjadi orang yang
paling diantara manusia.
3. Berbuat baik kepada tetangga, nicaya beliau menjadi orang mukmin yang sejati.
4. Cintai manusia sebagaimana engkau mencintai diri sendiri, niscaya beliau menjadi orang yang
sejati.
5. Jangan terlalu banyak tertawa karena banyak tertawa itu mematikan hati.
During the reign of Umar bin Khatab, he was appointed as emir in the city of Bahrain.
Caliph Umar was very strict and thorough with the officials he appointed. When he lifts someone at
that time he has two pairs of clothes. When leaving his post later that person should have two pairs
of clothes too. Even more important if he has a pair. And if at the time of leaving the position there
are signs of wealth, he will not escape Umar's interrogation, even if the wealth is from a lawful way
which is permitted by the Shari'a. When Abu Hurairah held the position of governor in Bahrain, he
kept his wealth from lawful sources.
Pada masa pemerintahanya Umar bin Khatab, beliau diangkat sebagai amir di kota Bahrain.
Khalifah Umar ini sangat keras dan teliti terhadap pejabat-pejabat yang diangkatnya. Apabila ia
mengangkat seseorang pada waktu itu mempunyai dua pasangan pakain. Ketika meninggalkan
jabatannya nanti orang itu pun harusnya mempunyai dua pasang pakain juga. Bahkan lebih utama
bila ia mempunyai satu pasang. Dan apabila pada waktu meninggalkan jabatan itu terdapat tanda-
danda kekayaan, ia tidak akan luput dari interogasi Umar, sekalipun kekayaan tersebut dari jalan
halal yang diperbolehkan secara syariat. Ketika Abu Hurairah memegang jabatan sebagai gubenur
di Bahrain, ia menyimpan harta dari sumber yang halal.
Umar knew this, so he was summoned to come to Medina. Abu Hurairah also handed over
his wealth to Umar, even though the treasure was obtained from the gifts of people who came to
him. After handing over his wealth to Umar, he resigned as Governor of Bahrain. Then he raised his
hand while praying "O Allah forgive Amirul Mukninin". Not long after that Umar called him again,
to offer the post of governor to a new area, but he refused and apologized for not being able to
accept it. During the reign of Umar also, he was not allowed to narrate the hadith from the Prophet
to the public with the reason that the Muslims at that time did not read and recite anything other
than the Qur'an, until it was attached and fixed in the hearts of the minds of the believers. During
the reign of Usman bin Affan, Abu Hurairah along with 700 Muhajirin and Ansar people helped
guard Usman when surrounded by the rebels, but Usman forbade him to fight the rebels.
Meanwhile, during the reign of Ali bin Abi Talib, he was asked to become governor, but refused.
When the battle between Ali and Mu'awiyah bin Abi Sufyan, he was neutral and did not defend

between the two. In the Umayyad government led by Marwan bin Hakam who was the fourth
Caliph of this dynasty.
Hal ini diketahui oleh Umar, sehingga ia pun dipanggil agar datang ke Madinah. Abu
Hurairah pun menyerahkan hartanya kepada Umar, meskipun harta tersebut didapat dari peberian
orang yang berdatangan ke beliau. Setelah menyerahkan hartanya ke Umar, beliau pun
mengundurkan diri sebagai Gubenur di Bahrain. Kemudian beliau mengangkat tangannya sambil
berdo‟a “Ya Allah ampunilah Amirul Mukninin”. Tidak lama kemudian Umar memanggil beliau
lagi, untuk menawarkan jabatan gubenur ke wilayah baru, tetapi beliau menolak dan meminta maaf
karena tidak dapat menerimanya. Pada masa pemrintahan Umar juga, beliau tidak boleh
meriwayatkan hadis dari Rasulullah ke masyarakat dengan alasan, agar kaum muslimin pada masa
itu tidak membaca dan mengafalkan selain dari al-Qur‟an, sampai melekat dan mantap dalam
sanubari dari pikiran orang mukmin. Pada masa pemerintahannya Usman bin Affan, Abu Hurairah
bersama orang 700 orang Muhajirin dan Anshar ikut menjaga Usman ketika dikepung oleh kaum
pemberontak, namun Usman melarangnya memerangi kaum pemberontak. Sedangkan pada masa
pemerintahan Ali bin Abi Thalib, beliau diminta untuk menjadi gubenur, akan tetapi menolaknya.
Ketika pertempuran antara Ali dan Mu‟awiyah bin Abi Sufyan, beliau bersikap netral dan tidak
membela diantara keduanya. Pada pemerintahan Umayyah yang dipimpin oleh Marwan bin Hakam
yang merupakan Khalifah ke empat dari dinasti ini.
At this time Abu Hurairah was called by Marwan bin Hakam and invited to sit with him,
then he asked Abu Hurairah to report the traditions of the Prophet and he also ordered his scribe to
write what Abu Hurairah read behind the wall. One year later Marwan called Abu Hurairah to read
again what his secretary had written the previous year. It turned out that no one had forgotten even a
single word.
Pada masa ini Abu Hurairah di panggil oleh Marwan bin Hakam dan diajak duduk
bersamanya, lalu beliau meminta Abu Hurairah untuk mengkhabarkan hadis-hadis dari Rasulullah
dan beliau juga menyuruh juru tulisnya menulis apa yang dibaca oleh Abu Hurairah dibalik dinding.
Satu tahun kemudian Marwan memanggil Abu Hurairah membacakan lagi apa yang ditulis oleh

periwayatan hadis yang diriwayatkan Abu Huarirah 5374 hadis. Dari julmah tersebut menurut Ibnu
Jauzi terdapat dalam Musnad Ibnu Hanbal. Sedangkan menurut Ahmad Syakir hadis yang
diriwayatkan Abu Hurairah setelah dikeluar hadis-hadis berulang kali disebutkan adalah 1579, dari
5374 hadis yang diriwayatkannya, 325 terdapat pada Shâhih Bukhâri dan shâhih Musim, yakni 93
diriwayatkan oleh Bukhari dan 185 diriwayatkan oleh Muslim. Beliau kebanyakan mendapatkan

Hurairah rindu ingin bertemu dengan Allah semakin kuat saat orang-orang mengunjunginya dan
mendo‟akannya agar cepat sembuh dari sakitnya, beliau sendiri justru memohon kepada Allah agar
segera bertemu dengan-Nya. Akhirnya abu Hurairah pun wafat pada tahun 59 H dalam usia 78
tahunESedangkan menurut Ibnu Hajar bahwa Abu Hurairah wafat pada tahun 57 H dan beliau juga
merupakan sahabat Nabi Saw. Abu Hurairah memiliki sifat-sifat yang terpuji di antaranya wara’,
takwa dan zuhud. Beliau juga seorang yang suka bercanda dan humoris yang bermanfaat. Ketika
bertemu dengan anak-anak kecil banyak humor dan ketika bertemu dengan temanya di pasar, suka
bercerita yang menghibur. Tetapi pada malam hari, selalu melaksanakan shalat tahajud sepanjang
malam setiap hari.

what comes from Ka'ab is stated as a hadith from the Prophet. Thus, the one who did the tadlis
was not Abu Huarirah, it was the people who narrated the hadith from Abu Hurairah.
c) According to Imam Shafi'i that Abu Hurairah was the most Hafidz of his time. The accusation
that Abu Hurairah lied about narrating the hadith from the Messenger of Allah, he himself
confirmed that what he narrated was really from Him. In a period of 3 years with the Prophet,
he caught time to attend the assembly of the Prophet. Because he had left behind a lot about
what He said, so he recorded what the Apostle had said and memorized it. Abu Hurairah was
freed from accusations because of the hard work and perseverance of the hadith scholars, who
have proven and discarded every falsehood and addition that was included in the hadith.
Ada beberapa pendapat ulama mengenai Abu Hurairah, antara lain sebagai berikut.
a) Menurut Syu‟bah bin al-Hajaj bahwa periwayatan dari Abu Hurairah ini tadlis, karena Abu
Hurairah meriwayatkan hadis yang diterimanya dari Ka‟ab Al-Ahbar dan juga ada yang secara
langsung dari Rasulullah, dan dalam periwayatannya ini tidak membedakan di antara kedua
sumber tersebut.
b) Menurut Bisyri Bin Sa‟id bahwa Abu Hurairah menyampaikan hadis-hadis yang diterimanya
langsung dari Rasulullah dan ada yang memalui perantara Ka‟ab bin AlAhbar. Namun
sebagian orang yang mendengarnya membuktikan dan mengatakanya hadis yang berasal dari
Rasulullah barasal dari Ka‟ab, dan yang berasal dari Ka‟ab dinyatakan sebagai hadis dari Nabi
Saw. Dengan demikian, yang melakukan tadlis bukanlah Abu Huarirah, justru orang-orang
yang meriwayatkan hadis dari Abu Hurairah.
c) Menurut Imam Syafi‟i bahwa Abu Hurairah adalah orang yang paling Hafidz pada zamanya.
FTuduhan Abu Hurairah berbohong meriwayatkan hadis dari Rasulullah, beliau sendiri
menegaskan bahwa apa yang hadis diriwayatkannya ini benar-benar dari-Nya. Dalam jangka
waktu 3 tahun bersama Rasul, beliau mengejar waktu untuk menghadiri majelis Rasulullah.
Karena beliau sudah banyak tertinggal tentang apa yang disampaikanNya, sehingga beliau
mencatat apa yang telah disampaikan Rasul dan menghapalnya. Abu Hurairah terbebas dari
dari tuduhan karena usaha keras dan ketekunan ulama hadis, yang telah membuktikan dan
membuang setiap kepalsuan dan tambahan yang dimasukan dalam hadis.

1) According to Abdul Majid Khon, there are several factors that caused Abu Hurairah to be the
most narrator of them;
a. Diligently attend the prophet's assembly
b. Always accompanied the Prophet because he was a suffah resident at the Prophet's Mosque.
c. His memory is strong because he is one of the friends who received prayer from the Prophet
so that his memory is strong and he never forgets what he heard from the Prophet.
2) According to Kholid Muhammad Kholid, because Abu Hurairah became the most narrator
because first, he had more free time to be with the Prophet than other companions. Second, he
had a strong memory and he asked the Prophet for blessings so that his memory became
stronger. Third, he tells that he does not like to tell stories, but because the belief in spreading
these hadiths is his responsibility towards religion and his life.
3) According to Imam Shafi'i there are several factors that cause Abu Hurairah to be the most
narrator, namely:
a. Many attended the Prophet's assemblies and sometimes studied with other teachers such as
the Companions.
b. He liked to study, until he continued to preach with the Prophet, unless he forgot something
from his knowledge, he read a lot of hadiths from the Prophet.
c. Abu Hurairah met with the dignitaries of friends and he got many hadiths and he perfected
his knowledge in nine fiqh sciences and many others.

yang meriwayatkan hadis paling banyak . Ada beberapa pendapat mengenai latar belakang beliau
menjadi perawi yang paling banyak diantara para sahabat lain, ialah sebagai berikut.
1) Menurut Abdul Majid Khon, ada beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan Abu Hurairah menjadi
perawi paling diantaranya;
a. Rajin mengahadiri majelis nabi
b. Selalu menemani Rasulullah karena beliau sebagai penghunni suffah di Masjid Nabawi.
c. Kuat ingatnya karena beliau salah satu sahabat yang mendapat do‟a dari Nabi sehingga
hapalannya kuat dan tidak pernah lupa apa yang di dengar dari Rasulullah.
2) Menurut Kholid Muhammad Kholid, sebab Abu Hurairah menjadi perawi terbanyak karena
pertama, beliau memiliki waktu luang yang lebih banyak untuk bersama Nabi dari pada sahabat
lain. Kedua, beliau memiliki daya ingatan yang kuat dan beliau minta berkah kepada
Rasulullah sehingga ingatannya semakin kuat. Ketiga, ia menceritakan bukan gemar bercerita,
melainkan karena keyakinan menyebarluaskan hadis-hadis tersebut merupakan tanggung
jawabnya terhadap agama dan hidupnya.
3) Menurut Imam Syafi‟i ada beberapa faktor yang menyebabkan Abu Hurairah sebagai perawi
terbanyak, 4 adalah:
a. Banyak menghadiri majelis nabi saw dan terkadang belajar dengan guru lain seperti
golongan para sahabat.
b. Beliau gemar menuntut ilmu, hingga beliau terus menerus dakwah bersama Nabi saw
kecuali beliau lupa dari suatu ilmunya maka beliau banyak-banyak membaca hadis dari
Nabi.
c. Abu Hurairah bertemu dengan pembesar sahabat dan beliau mendapatkan hadis banyak serta
beliau menyempurnaka ilmunya pada sembilan ilmu fikih.dan banyak lainya.

no one even exceeds his knowledge."
Tentu saja guru beliau yang paling mulia adalah Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam.
Guru dari seluruh guru, penghulu para Nabi dan Rasul Allah subhanahu wata’ala. Hidup di masjid
nabawi memiliki keutamaan yang sangat besar bagi beliau. Beliau dapat mengikuti majelis-majelis
ilmu Rasulullah, mendengarkan arahan dan nasehatnya, serta bertanya kepada Rasulullah. Namun
beliau tidak membatasi diri dengan hanya menimba ilmu dari Rasulullah, sebab telah lewat masa
perjuangan yang panjang dalam sejarah islam sedang Abu Hurairah tak berada di sana. Maka
selama 4 tahun hidup bersama Rasulullah, Abu Hurairah terus fokus mempelajari Al Quran dan
Hadits, serta bertanya kepada para sahabat senior seperti Abu Bakar, Umar, Ubay bin Ka’ab,
Usamah bin Zaid, ‘Aisyah, Al-Fadhl bin ‘Abbas, Bashrah bin Abi Bashrah, dan Ka’ab Al-Habr.
Hingga beliau mendulang ilmu yang lebih banyak dibandingkan sahabat lainnya bahkan tak
seorangpun melebihi ilmu beliau.

people were busy with their business, at the same time I was busy with the hadith of the Prophet, I
was present in his assembly when they were not around. " Indeed, his enthusiasm for seeking
knowledge is second to none, until the Messenger of Allah witnessed this when Abu Hurairah asked
him about the person who was happiest with his intercession, the Messenger of Allah said:

Bahkan terbanyak dari seluruh sahabat dengan jumlah 5.374 hadits. Menjadi tongkat estafet
pertama yang menukilkan secara langsung syariat islam dan secara khusus hadits-hadits Rasulullah
shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam kepada para ulama yang datang setelahnya. Tentu saja hal ini adalah
khidmat dan kontribusi terbesar yang pernah dilakukan oleh seorang ulama hadits. Para sahabat
sendiri merasa keheranan dengan hapalan hadits yang dimiliki oleh Abu Hurairah. Maka beliau
menjelaskan, “Bahwa ketika orang-orang Muhajirin sibuk dengan ladang mereka, dan orang-orang
Anshar sibuk dengan perniagaan mereka, di awktu yang sama aku justru sibuk dengan hadits
Rasulullah, aku hadir dalam majelis beliau di saat mereka tak ada”. Memang semangat beliau dalam
menuntut ilmu tidak ada duanya, hingga Rasulullah mempersaksikan hal tersebut ketika Abu
Hurairah bertanya kepada beliau tentang orang yang paling berbahagia dengan syafaatnya, maka
Rasulullah bersabda:
"I really thought, O Abu Hurairah, that no one would come before you to ask about it because of
your enthusiasm in studying the science of hadith. The person who is happiest with my intercession
on the Day of Resurrection is the one who says the words of monotheism, sincerely from himself."
(Narrated by Bukhari number 99).
“Sungguh Aku telah mengira wahai Abu Hurairah bahwa tidak akan ada seorangpun yang
mendahuluimu untuk bertanya tentang hal tersebut karena semangatmu dalam mempelajari ilmu

hadits. Orang yang paling berbahagia dengan syafaatku kelak pada hari kiamat adalah orang yang
mengucapkan kalimat tauhid, tulus ikhlas dari dirinya.” (HR. Bukhari nomor 99).

Abu Hurairah yang miskin dan memfokuskan dirinya pada ilmu dengan menghapal serta
murajaah di masjid nabawi juga mendapatkan karunia doa Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wasallam
yang mustajab. Seperti permintaan Abu Hurairah kepada Rasulullah untuk diajarkan ilmu yang
diberikan Allah kepadanya, lalu Rasulullah menyobek sedikit kain pakaian Abu Hurairah dan
membentangkannya, kemudian Rasulullah menyampaikan sebuah kalimat untuk dihapalkan Abu
Hurairah, keesokan harinya Abu Hurairah dapat menghapal semua hadits Rasulullah tanpa
kesalahan sedikitpun. Berdasarkan doa Rasulullah tersebut, maka para ulama menjadikan ajaibnya
kekuatan hapalan Abu Hurairah sebagai salah satu bukti kenabian Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi
wasallam.

G. WAFAT
One day I really missed Abu Hurairah ra. want to meet God. While those who visited him
wished him a speedy recovery from his illness, he himself repeatedly pleaded with God saying: "O
Allah, I have really longed to meet You. I hope You are too!" In the City of Light (Al-Madinatul
Munawwarah), he breathed his last in 57 or 58 H. (676-678 AD) at the age of 78 years. Leaving a
very valuable legacy, namely the traditions of the Prophet, like beads of quality pearl beads, which
amount to 5,374 hadiths. Around the pious people who inhabited the Baqi' graveyard, in a blessed
place, that is where his body was laid! And while those who accompanied the bodies back from the
graves, their mouths and tongues would not stop reading the Hadith that was conveyed by Abu
Hurairah ra. to them from the noble Messenger.
Pada suatu hari sangatlah rindu Abu Hurairah ra. hendak bertemu dengan Allah. Selagi
orang-orang yang mengunjunginya mendo'akannya cepat sembuh dari sakitnya, ia sendiri berulang-
ulang memohon kepada Allah dengan berkata: "Ya Allah, sesungguhnya aku telah sangat rindu
hendak bertemu dengan-Mu. Semoga Engkau pun demikian!" Di Kota Penuh Cahaya (Al-Madinatul
Munawwarah), ia mengembuskan nafas terakhir pada 57 atau 58 H. (676-678 M.) dalam usia 78
tahun. Meninggalkan warisan yang sangat berharga, yakni hadis-hadis Nabi, bak butiran-butiran
ratna mutu manikam, yang jumlahnya 5.374 hadis.
Di sekeliling orang-orang shaleh penghuni pandam pekuburan Baqi', di tempat yang beroleh
berkah, di sanalah jasadnya dibaringkan! Dan sementara orang-orang yang mengiringkan
jenazahnya kembali dari pekuburan, mulut dan lidah mereka tiada henti-hentinya membaca Hadits
yang disampaikan Abu Hurairah ra.kepada mereka dari Rasul yang mulia.5

He is the closest person to the Prophet SAW, and he is a friend of the Prophet SAW who has
narrated the most hadiths of the Prophet.
Abu Huairah adalah orang yang sangat mencintai kucing makanya beliau lebih sering dikenal
dengan nama Abu Huairah. Beliau adalah orang yang paling dekat dengan Nabi SAW, dan beliau
adalah sahabat Nabi SAW yang paling banyak meriwayatkan hadits-hasits nabi.

masalah, dan ikhlas dalam beramal, serta tunduk kepada Alalh SWT. Maka Allah SWT akan
memudahkan urusan dunia maupun urusan akhirat serta selalu mengikuti sunnahnya Rasulullah
Saw.
