Assignment 1
Assignment 1
Smart Inverters - Smart inverters are essential components in solar power systems.
They convert DC electricity generated by solar panels into AC electricity for use in
homes or the grid. They continue to evolve to accommodate greater power consumption
while maintaining energy efficiency. Innovations such as microinverters continue to
create power supplies through new technologies.
Robotics - Robotics has been a major player in the league of technological journey. As a
field requiring both software and hardware, it benefits from both and has continued to
dish out better, more efficient machines. Robots are becoming more autonomous, agile,
and capable of handling complex tasks. Innovations include soft robotics for safer
human-robot interactions and the integration of AI for decision-making and learning.
Voice Assistants - Siri, Alexa, Cortana, and other voice assistants are a prominent
addition to user devices that bring out more capability and efficiency to their users.
Technological advancements make voice assistants more capable in AI, natural
language processing (NLP), and machine learning. They also integrate with many smart
home devices, expanding their functionality and usefulness.
Graphic Processing Unit (GPU) - The PC Master Race is a subculture steeming from
advancements in the PC and its auxiliaries. As one of its main components, GPUs
continued to improve over the years, with Nvidia as one of its leading brands with its
latest GeForce RTX 4090 and AMD with the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. These units boasts
improved performance of PCs and 4k quality graphics capable of handling high-
frequency displays.
Camera - The camera has long evolved to capture better, clearer, and more efficient
media. Digital cameras, both standalone and integrated into other devices like
smartphones, receive frequent upgrades. These upgrades often include higher-
resolution sensors, improved low-light performance, and advanced image-processing
algorithms.
Smart Watches - Smartwatches like the Apple Watch are continually modified with new
sensors, health-tracking capabilities, and connectivity options. They are becoming more
independent from smartphones, offering features like cellular connectivity and app
ecosystems that make them increasingly versatile.
2. List five products that are not currently on the market that could be helpful to us and will
most likely be designed by engineers and others.
3D Printing for Infrastructure Building - 3D printing technology is already used for small-
scale projects. However, engineers are exploring the potential for using it in large-scale
infrastructure construction. The construction of buildings, bridges, and other structures
quickly using 3d printing will make it cost-effective as well. This innovation could
transform the construction industry and make infrastructure development more
sustainable.
3. List five Internet-based services that are not currently available but that you think will
eventually become realities
AI Integration Into Social Media - In the future, we may see AI-driven social media
services that offer more personalized content, enhanced moderation to combat online
harassment, and improved content recommendation systems. For example, GMA
recently announced the implementation of AI sportscasting during the ongoing NCAA
games. These AI integrations could significantly improve user experiences and safety on
social media platforms.
Internet of Things - While IoT is already a reality to some extent, its full potential is yet to
be realized. In the future, we might see even greater integration of IoT devices, leading
to smarter homes, cities, and industries. The development of edge computing lets IoT
devices make quicker decisions, reducing latency and enhancing user experience. This
could result in more efficient resource management, improved healthcare monitoring,
and enhanced security.
