(a) Determine how long you have to invest R9 750 to earn R20 250 interest, at 9,7%
per annum simple interest. (3)

(b) Three years ago, you paid R2 399 for a pair of running shoes. Due to inflation the same pair
will now cost you R2 885. Determine the average rate of inflation. (3)

(c) R8 000 is deposited into a savings account. The interest rate for the first three years is 3%
p.a. compounded annually. Thereafter, the interest rate changes to 4% per annum
compounded annually. Calculate the value of the investment at the end of the eighth year.
