Dear Sir/Madame:
This letter expresses my intention to apply for an open work permit. I wish to be granted the aforementioned
permit to accompany my husband, Paul Jerome C. Colandog, throughout the duration of his work visa in
Canada.
My husband has accepted a position as Senior Watchmaker at Raffi Jewellers Inc. in Cambridge, covering
from February 1, 2023 until January 31, 2025. During this period, I want to emphasize one of the pillars of
a healthy partnership, which is support. We've been together since 2006, or almost 17 years, and have
experienced both good and challenging situations. Our marriage, which we started in 2009, is just now
starting to flourish. We would not like to be physically separated for so long, which is one of the reasons
we want to live together for the duration of my husband's working permit. I appreciate my husband for
many things, but one of those things is his determination, perseverance, and resilience. That is why I
wholeheartedly support his decision to accept the job offer in Canada recognizing that he would learn more
about the field of watchmaking.
In terms of my personal circumstances, I started my career at the Bank of the Philippines Islands in 2006
after graduating from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Business Teacher
and Education. After a year, I started a new path and had the opportunity to work at Healthway Medical,
where I gained a ton of knowledge and developed a thorough understanding of the administrative field.
When I was promoted to department coordinator, I had the chance to work with top administrators on
projects affecting service delivery, patient satisfaction, and organizational compliance.
In 2014, another door opened for me to join Ayala Property Management Corporation. I was engaged as an
engineering technical assistant and later promoted to property manager in 2019. I managed 370 apartments,
14 security guards, 9 housekeeping personnel, 6 technical maintenance staff, and 4 administrative staff at
One Legazpi Park, an Ayala Land Premiere building. I quickly had a solid understanding of association,
financing, planning, records management, and extensive administrative ideas and procedures. My writing
and analytical abilities, as well as my capacity to communicate effectively, were all substantially improved.
I attended various trainings and seminars that enhanced my abilities and expertise in property management
and operations. I consider myself a great achiever given that I passed the ISO 50001 audit in 2020 and
received the APMC Blue Star award in 2021.
As the property manager, I ensure that the house rules and building guidelines are observed in accordance
with the master deed. With the help of the security, maintenance, administration, and housekeeping staff, I
conduct daily inspection and coordination meetings. Overall equipment preventative maintenance programs
are prepared and generally coordinated with technical maintenance personnel. In order to enhance the
building's functionality even more, I recommend taking action to upgrade or modernize its facilities. I work
in cooperation with governmental organizations to make sure the building conforms to all relevant legal
and regulatory criteria. I hold weekly rescue and emergency drills to ensure that our team can properly
respond to an actual situation if one arises. I oversee outside contractors that take care of the preventive
upkeep of the building's machinery. I ensure that the most effective cost- and energy-saving strategies are
put into effect. I handle the yearly renewal of service contracts as well as payments for building insurance,
taxes, and licensing. In addition, prepare and monitor the building's finances to ensure the efficiency of cost
expenditures. Manages tenant complaints and difficulties. Maintains records and generates regular monthly
reports for the principals. I believe that my knowledge, skills, and training will contribute to the Canadian
workforce which I will use during our temporary stay in Canada.
As a couple, we believe that one of the things that keeps a relationship strong is fulfilling marital
commitments. Since my husband is working abroad, I want to remain by his side for the duration of his stay
to offer whatever support I can as his wife. Along the way to realizing his aspirations, I will look after him
and be his biggest supporter. The fact that Canada encourages and supports family reunification is
undoubtedly advantageous.
While in Canada, I pledge to be a law-abiding temporary resident and worker who contributes to the
country's continued development while never being a burden to society or the government. I commit to
abiding by all rules and regulations pertaining to an open work permit, the same way I obeyed the rules
when I and my children first visited Hong Kong as tourists.
Upon the end of our authorized stay in Canada, we will definitely go back to the Philippines, taking with
us the wonderful experiences and memories that we will surely cherish. We would grow our family and
continue to manage our investments, including our continuous contributions to the government’s savings
and insurance programs such as the Social Security System, Home Mutual Development Fund, and
Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, which would be most beneficial for our retirement. I also have a
Sun Life Insurance policy for life insurance. I am certain that there are a lot of job opportunities I could go
back to since property management is in demand in the Philippines. There are many employment prospects
in the property management profession in the Philippines, and I am sure that with increasing globalization,
having a broader perspective and wider experience would be beneficial in my career.
I hope I have clearly expressed my good intentions and sincerity in seeking an open work permit, and I
would highly appreciate your favorable assessment of my application. I appreciate you reading my letter,
and I look forward to your thoughtful consideration.
Sincerely,
DAVELYN L. COLANDOG
