When choosing the Humvee’s replacement, the U.S.
military placed a heavy emphasis on versatility. Oshkosh
delivered. The company offers four versions of the
JLTV: General Purpose, Utility, Heavy Guns Carrier,
and Close Combat Weapons Carrier. Each can be
specialised further by adding additional armour,
weaponry, and communications packages. The Utility
version is a two-door with a flatbed that can handle
a load of 5,100 pounds. The other three models are
four-door and feature a significant arsenal of weaponry,
including .50-calibre machine guns and TOW missiles.
It also includes a next-generation turret and
weapons system that features a 30-mm chain gun,
the same type found on the Apache helicopter gunship.
The unparalleled EOS R-400S-MK2 remote-weapon
system means soldiers can respond to threats of
overwhelming firepower without having to exit the
vehicle or stand in an exposed turret. With myriad
optional armour and weaponry packages, the family
of JLTV models can tackle any task, from long-range
reconnaissance and special-forces raids to heavy-
weapon support and antitank operations.

Cadillac has been a preferred provider of limousines to presidents

over the years, beginning with President Woodrow Wilson, who rode
one through the streets of Boston for a 1919 World War I victory
parade. Calvin Coolidge used a 1928 Cadillac town car during his
administration, but the first true purpose-built Cadillac presidential
limo came in 1938. It was actually a pair of Cadillac convertibles,
nicknamed the Queen Mary and the Queen Elizabeth after the
famous ocean liners of the time. The vehicles were 21.5 feet long,
weighed 7,660 pounds, and were equipped with a small weapons
arsenal, two-way radios, and heavy-duty generators.
The Queens served presidents Franklin D. Roosevelt, Harry
S. Truman, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. Eisenhower, a car buff,
wanted something a little flashier. The 1953 Cadillac Eldorado was
just the thing. Eisenhower commissioned a pair of armoured 1956
convertibles, the Queen Mary II and the Queen Elizabeth II, to replace
the original cars. These cars served presidents John F. Kennedy and
Lyndon B. Johnson, retiring in 1968.
President Ronald Reagan got a 1983 Cadillac Fleetwood
limousine that served up until President George H.W. Bush’s
administration. For President Bill Clinton, Cadillac developed

Nassau, but what it lacks in name recognition it more than makes up for

Beach, which remains undeveloped thanks to its protection by the
Bahamas National Trust. Less spectacular is Taino Beach, which is the
place to go for water sports.
