PREAMBLE
The information contained in this document may be used as a guide when preparing an aircraft for
despatch on revenue operations, while carrying one or more allowable deficiencies in accordance with
the Minimum Equipment List (MEL) supplied by BAE SYSTEMS

This document provides advisory material regarding those items, which require a maintenance and/or
flight crew action prior to despatching the aircraft.
Reference must be made to the appropriate MEL entry and the guidance notes contained in the MEL
Preamble and Definitions sections.
USE OF GUIDE
The format of this guide is identical to that of the MEL, which is based on ATA chapter number. All
items in the guide are cross-referenced to the appropriate MEL Item number.
2. The Maintenance procedure or Operations procedure required to render that item safely inoperative
or to operate the aircraft safely, whilst carrying that known deficiency(s).
(M) and (O) procedures have only been included in this DDG document where additional information is
required to that already included in the MEL proviso.
3. Each inoperative item must be placarded to remind and inform the crew members and maintenance
personnel of the equipment condition. To the extent practicable, placards should be located adjacent
to the control or indicator for the item affected such that it is clear to the operating crew that it, or its
associated system, is inoperative.

a) Verify fuel loading via Magnetic Fuel Level Indicators OR by reference to the refuel panel
gauges located on the underside of the right wing leading edge.
OPERATIONS (O)
a) When refuelling, monitor quantities delivered from the re-fueller and cross check with
MFLI/refuel panel gauges (as appropriate).
b) In flight monitor fuel used/remaining by reference to the associated fuel flow/fuel used
gauges and associated feed tank gauges and feed tank low level warnings.
c) Reset the fuel used indicators to zero ONLY after each refuel stop and/or each fuel quantity
measurement.
MAINTENANCE (M)
a) Open the access panel to the refuel/defuel control station, located in the underside of the
right wing leading edge.
b) Placard the relevant Fuel Quantity Indicator ‘INOP’.
c) Fuel quantity loaded may be monitored by means of the Preselect system, by quantities
from the re-fueller, by the Tank Contents gauges on the Pilot’s centre panel or by the
magnetic level indicators located in the undersurface of the wing tanks.

annunciator light should illuminate as pressure drops accompanied by the FUEL ↑ amber
warning flashers and single stroke chime on the master warning panel.

DESPATCH DEVIATIONS GUIDE (CAA)
NOTE: Validation of the Generator Bus Fault Relays are not required if starting engines with the
AC Bus bars unpowered as detailed in MOM Volume 2, Section 9.35.23, or in FCOM
Vol 3 Part 4, Chapter 8 Topic 2.
iii) Set the APU GEN, GEN 1 and GEN 4 switches to OFF/RESET and BUS TIE AC and DC
switches to AUTO.
iv) Confirm engines 1 and 4 are at ground idle.
v) Set the GEN 4 switch to OFF LINE and AC rotary selector switch to GEN 4. Check AC
voltmeter reads within green sector and Frequency meter reads 400+/-14 Hz.
vi) Set GEN 4 switch to ON then EXT AC to OFF. Check all AC BUS OFF annunciators are
out and left PFD/ND (or left ADI) are operative. Note that the HSI has a reversionary supply
and is therefore not a valid identification of bus fault relay status.
vii) Set GEN 1 switch to OFF LINE and the AC rotary selector switch to GEN 1. Check AC
voltmeter reads within green sector and Frequency meter reads 400+/-14Hz
viii) Set GEN 1 switch to ON.
