1- PURPOSE
The purpose of method statement is to explain the scope of work for each activity and on this
method statement we are elaborating the process of cable laying activities. In order to give the
site engineers and supervisors on the site an induction about the steps of cable laying
procedure that will be carried on the site. This section involves execution of the work for
cable laying
2- SCOPE OF WORK
This "Method Statement" covers cable laying works and the requirements of the checks to be
carried out. This procedure is to be read in conjunction with relevant document and checklist
(attached) outlining the responsibility and quality verification to be performed by various
parties. This procedure defines the method used to ensure that all cables and associated
Accessories are correct and acceptable.

5- PROCEDURE SYSTEM
• All workers are to attend safety induction training conducted by Contractor and given
specific training on the safe installation methods by the supervisor of AE ARMA-
ELEKTROPANIC.
• It will be ensured that approved shop drawing is available with supervisor.
• It will be ensured that approved material required to carry out work will be available.
• Prior to commencement of work, areas and access will be inspected to confirm that the
site is ready and safe to commence the work.
• All relevant documentation and material applicable to particular section of works will
be checked by site engineer before commencement of work.
• Physical verification of materials will be carried out for any damages prior to taking
from warehouse.
• The site engineer/supervisor will give the necessary instructions to the tradesman and
provide necessary construction/shop drawings.
• The site engineer/supervisor will also check that tools and equipment’s available are in
compliance to contract and safety requirements.
• The site engineer will arrange necessary means for loading and/or mobilization of
materials.
• Unloading of cable drums from vehicle shall be provided by using tower crane or
forklift,
• In case of unloading by crane cross-rails should be used. Dropping drums/ even from
a small height is

difficult for pulling and handling the cables. If the store temperature is lower than 15 C
during the 24-hour pre-pull period, arrangements should be made to move the Drums, to a
warmer area. If no indoor warming area is available, plastic sheeting -covered shelter may
be constructed and heated. The drums should be held in the warm storage area at the
temperature of at least 15° C for 24 hours to ensure total warm up. .
• Prior to pulling the cable entire route should be studied by the Foreman of the site and
confirmed with the Site Engineer to place the proper place for Cable Drums.
• Cable pulling rollers shall be used and ensure that cable will not scratch on any other hard
materials.
• Non Fire rated and Fire rated cables should be installed as shown on shop drawings.
• Proper spacing should be provided between two cables and all the earth continuity
conductors (ECC) should be accompanied along with the respective circuit feeders only.
• The minimum internal radius of bend for cables in fixed wiring installation shall not be
less than 12 times the overall diameter of the cable.

• All the cables running in the horizontal cable trays should be supported and dressed with
proper type of approved cable ties.
• Twisting and Bending of cables will not allow during the cable installation.
• All the cables should be identified at both ends with cable identification tags.
• Cable joints strictly not allowed anywhere in the installation.
• Do not allow cable to twist or rotate about its longitudinal axis.
• Install cables to allow anyone cable to be subsequently removed without disturbing the
remainder.
• Do not lay cables direct into ground if a corrosive agent is present.
• Protect cables with a continuous layer interlocking concrete or earthenware covers.
• Cable Ladders are properly supported in the wall in vertical position.
• Single core insulated & sheathed cables are installed in ventilated cable ladders.
• Cables in the vertical cable trays are properly supported and dressed with Cable Ties.
• Twisting and Bending of cables will not allow during the cable installation.
• A full time dedicated Foreman should be assigned for the complete cable installation.
• Cable tag number will be placed on two lead of the cables and at suitable intervals.
• As the cables pass through the walls, fire stop sealing will be ensured by others as per
indicated on the related electrical details.
