1. INTRODUCTION

1.1 Scope

This Functional Specification defines the minimum technical requirements

for the design, manufacture, testing and delivery of the electrical harnesses
and instrumentation installed on Subsea Xmas Trees.
This specification has been issued as a standard document, to be used in
conjunction with Calls for Bids and Contract documents.
This specification must be read in conjunction with MOD.xxx.xxx.xxx “Data
Sheet – Electrical Instrumentation” which integrates the present document
providing design data and project specific requirements. An example of the
data sheet is given in Appendix “A”.
Modifications to the requirement of this functional specification shall only be
made subject to prior written approval from COMPANY. CONTRACTOR
shall advise with his offer any deviations he may have to the requirements
of this functional specification.
Nothing in this functional specification shall relieve CONTRACTOR of his
responsibility to conduct detailed design, analyses, perform testing and
inspection activities and any other activities necessary to ensure that the
product, materials, and workmanship are satisfactory for the service
intended.

1.2 Interfaces

CONTRACTOR shall take care of all external interfaces and formally liase
with COMPANY’s other Contractors in order to exchange all of the
characteristics and data necessary to design and ensure compatibility of his
supplied equipment with other parties' work.
CONTRACTOR shall release all drawings and technical documentation
which are critical for interfaces with other contractor's work.
CONTRACTOR is responsible for obtaining from other Contractors all
drawings and technical documentation necessary for the completion of the
Work. CONTRACTOR shall not be responsible for errors in such information
other than those that could have reasonably been identified through
checking.
All costs for liasing with COMPANY’s other Contractors shall be to
CONTRACTOR’s account.

A brief list of the main external interfaces is reported below:

1.3 Applicable Documents

The documents listed in this section are the minimum standards which shall
govern the work. They are not exhaustive and shall by no means alleviate
CONTRACTOR of the responsibility to use sound judgement and accepted
oil industry practice if any requirements are not specifically addressed.
Contractor shall be aware of supplementary requirements mentioned in this
document.
The order of precedence for applicable codes, standards and regulations
shall be as follows, unless specified otherwise in the contract documents:
• Government regulations
• COMPANY’s specifications
• International standards and codes.
Should conflicting requirements be made by different documents the most
onerous shall be treated as the minimum requirement, unless formally
agreed by COMPANY to the contrary. In all cases COMPANY shall be
informed.
The codes, standards and regulations shall be the latest revision available
at the time of CONTRACT placement unless otherwise agreed, and
adoption of later revisions published during the course of the work shall only
be accepted after COMPANY approval.
If CONTRACTOR cannot comply, either in part or in whole, with any of the
following codes and standards he shall submit his reasons for the
exception(s) for COMPANY approval.
