Session 1
Identifying Sound Doctrine speakers for our
schools:
Introduction
1.GRATITUDE.
a. I am grateful to God and to the leadership for
such an honor.
b. I thank God that at this stage in my life I could still
be involved in student ministry in one way or
another.

 I am truly grateful
2.Serving God is an honor and privilege.
a.And it's also a responsibility we have to prepare
for .
b.We have to be continually graduating to more
and more service not to less
If we take our responsibilities very seriously this
will be to us:
 A learning zone: valuable lessons learned
 A stepping stone for greater ministry

1 Tim 3:13 ESV “For those who serve well as

deacons gain a good standing for themselves and
also great confidence in the faith that is in Christ
Jesus.”
The key phrase is: gain a good standing or gain an
excellent standing.
Literally: “those for well having served a standing for
themselves good do acquire and great confidence in
the faith”
Standing= a step (of a stairway); hence: a stage in
a career, a position.
Confidence = freedom of speech.
We take a step to freedom of speech.
Generally for servants it is not their speech but their
work that is looked for.
But when we serve well it becomes a stairway to a
stage or career to speak
Leaving a witness that something deserves to be
remembered (taken seriously).
That is how God promotes people in the kingdom
Luke 16:10 (AMP) “He who is faithful in a very little
thing is also faithful in much; and he who is
dishonest in a very little thing is also dishonest in
much.”
Matt. 25:23 ““His master replied, ‘Well done, good
and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a
few things; I will put you in charge of many things.
Come and share your master’s happiness!’”

Lesson: if you want to be taken seriously: then

serve well. (Well-perceived; viewed as good
(advantageous, appealing), i.e. as "winsomely
attractive.")
3.Serving God as a patron is a great Honor:
You're shaping lives for future impact
We should take that responsibility solemnly and
seriously
And so it's important that you take every opportunity
to build your capacity
4.The greatest blessing of ministry is growth – if
you observe people who have stayed in ministry
serving God in different ways: you will see that
they have grown:
They may have started off as weak uninformed but
they don’t stay the same at all.
So be encouraged serve God.
How to select good speakers
1.Have a plan or at least sketch for the term
year
a.Theme- what you want achieved
b.The needs – the school has
 Laziness
 Theft
 Lesbianism
 Pride etc
 Religion
 Devil worship

c.The needs of the school become your

mission
2.Prayerfully develop topics a long this line
a.Make the topics as simple as possible
b.Use simple nonreligious language
c. Be creative (deliverance- Holy Spirit etc )
3.Select speakers based on this
a.Known for their effectiveness
b.Known for their abilities with students
c. Known for their good Christian conduct (fruit)
d.Use available speakers as much as possible
 Teachers in the school
 Pastor in neighborhood church
 KSCF certified speakers etc
 Avoid favoritism
 Assess people purely by fruit not nepotism
Matt. 7:16 “You will recognize them by their fruits.
Are grapes gathered from thornbushes, or figs from
thistles?”
 Tribe
 Religious affiliation
 Political connections
 Financial muscle
Should not be the overarching consideration
 Choose speakers
a.Who are familiar with the subject
b.Who respect the authority of God’s word
c. Who give a simple presentation

d.Who are practical and down-to-earth

e.Who will command the respect of the
audience: like has the correct current affairs
information
f. Who present the truth of the word of God
emphasizing on the need for decision and
not in stirring up the students emotions:
Our lives are changed by decisions or choices
not emotions
1 Cor. 14:19-20 NKJV “Yet in the church I would
rather speak five words with my understanding, that
I may teach others also, than ten thousand words in
a tongue.”
“But in the church I would rather speak five
intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand
words in a tongue.”

NLT
“But in a church meeting I would rather speak five
understandable words to help others than ten
thousand words in an unknown language.”
g. Yes choose people who keep time
Whatever else you want to achieve it is better
than some time is taken to intelligibly explain
and then let the Holy Spirit take over

There is power in the word of God

Avoid people:
 who make it their habit to attack other
religions and to make people feel guilty by
condemnation
 who don’t keep time
 who despise church membership
 who love huge undeserved titles
Avoid speakers who will demand money you don’t
have to give.

4.Have a plan for prayer -simple plan

Ultimately Zach 4:6 “So he said to me, “This is
the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by
might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says
the LORD Almighty.”
Remember it is the Holy Spirit that brings
conviction and changes lives
Session 2
Family and Ministry
 Know or learn how to balance their families with
the ministry/ work/ job /occupation.
 Many have families failing, marriage becoming
an bearable and yet they are servants in their
vine yard.
 Balance, where most of your energy should go
to...

 After ministry/work, you go to your family

 something about marriage
 something on raising children
 something about our obligations as father's or
mother's or even children (mature), our duty
towards our parents, going back to them etc
Introduction:
That family and ministry are related is seen clearly in
scripture:
1)From the first family
a. God created mankind
Then God said, “Let us make
Gen 1:26-28 “26

mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that

they may rule over the fish in the sea and the
birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the
wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that
move along the ground. 27 So God
created mankind in his own image, in the
image of God he created them;
male and female he created them. 28 God
blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful
and increase in number; fill the earth and
subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and
the birds in the sky and over every living
creature that moves on the ground.”

God seemed to be addressing them as plural even

though chronologically Eve was not made

b. Created for him a garden =assignment

Gen 2:15 ESV “The LORD God took the man and
put him in the garden of Eden to work it and keep it.”
NIV “The LORD God took the man and put him in
the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.”

Gen 1:18The LORD God said, “It is not good for

Gen 2:23-24 “23 The man said, “This is now
bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she
shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out
of man.” 24 That is why a man leaves his
father and mother and is united to his wife,
and they become one flesh. 25 Adam and his
wife were both naked, and they felt no
shame.”

Many problems in marriage and family stem

from the foundation:
a. Of the lives of the people involved
b. Of the marriage itself
Lesson is:
We men should always remember we will not
be effective in our assignment without a
suitable helper.
1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them
with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to
the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of
the grace of life, that your prayers may not be
hindered.”
2) To effectively do your assignment
as a family you need:

1. Unity
Gen. 2:24 “That is why a man leaves his
father and mother and is united to his
wife, and they become one flesh.”
One flesh = absolute unity
The law of unity:

Matt. 12:25 “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and

said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself
is brought to desolation; and every city or house
divided against itself shall not stand.”
Covenant keeping requires death to self-
selfishness= unity

2. Cooperation
Heb. 11:11 “By faith Sarah herself received power to
conceive, even when she was past the age, since
she considered him faithful who had promised”
If she had not cooperated they would have been no
miracle.
Lot and his family didn’t fair well.
Luke 17:32 "Remember Lot's wife"
And if your helper doesn’t cooperate you are in
trouble.
3. Coordination

a. The angel to Mary

Luke 1:26-28 “26 In the sixth month of
Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the
angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in
Galilee, 27 to a virgin pledged to be
married to a man named Joseph, a
descendant of David. The virgin’s name
was Mary. 28 The angel went to her and
said, “Greetings, you who are highly
favored! The Lord is with you.”
b. The dream to Joseph

Matt 1:20-25 (NIV) “But after he had considered

this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a
dream and said, “Joseph son of David, do not be
afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because
what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.”
In this way an apparent breakdown in this
relationship was averted because of this superb
coordination
4. Compensation

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 “9 Two are better

than one, because they have a good
return for their labor: 10 If either of them
falls down, one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls and has no one
to help them up. 11 Also, if two lie down
together, they will keep warm. But how
can one keep warm alone? 12 Though one
may be overpowered, two can defend
themselves. A cord of three strands is
not quickly broken.”
a. One persons weakness is made up in the strength of
the other
You can take advantage of one but not two.
Matt. 10:7
“And he called the twelve and began to send th
em out two by two, and
gave them authority over the unclean spirits.”
This is why we men of God fall- we present
ourselves as the ultimate in need of no one.
That is very dangerous
b. There is a multiplier effect in companionship
The whole is more than the sum of
the part

Gen. 3: 1-4 “Now the serpent was more crafty

than any of the wild animals the LORD God had
made. He said to the woman, "Did God really say,
`You must not eat from any tree in the garden'?" 2
The woman said to the serpent, "We may eat fruit
from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, `You
must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of
the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will
die.'" 4 "You will not surely die," the serpent said to
the woman.”
Eve should have consulted the husband
at this point. She should have called off
the conversation and consulted with the
husband.
“By the way what did God really say?”
She should have said: I am not
authorized to talk to strange looking
creatures like you- period.
The devil is not a fool and he knows this
kind of tricks work so often so well.
If it is working don’t change.
Couples have to learn the devils tricks at
breaking communication.
Breakdown in communication is often a
reason for infidelity.

This other person is really understanding

and helpful: when he or she is the devil
incarnate
6. Confession
James 5:16 (AMP) “Therefore, confess your
sins to one another [your false steps, your
offenses], and pray for one another, that you
may be healed and restored.”
It takes humility to confess.
But remember God gives grace to the
humble.
Gen 2:25 “Adam and his wife were both naked,
and they felt no shame.”
It is the nature of people to be naked and if
that opportunity is not accorded them by the
spouse….
7. Collaboration
Cooperation involves working with others to help them achieve their
individual goals
Collaboration addresses situations in which people work together on
a shared goal.

 Caring for one another

Eph. 5:29 “After all, no one ever hated

their own body, but they feed and care for
their body, just as Christ does the church.”
 Carrying one another’s burdens –
Gal. 6:2 “Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law
of Christ.”

 Taking (sharing) responsibility

1 Tim 5:8 “If anyone does not provide for his own, and especially his own
household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.”

Isaiah 58:7 “Is it not to share your food with the hungry
and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter-- when you see
the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own
flesh and blood?”

This matter means a lot to God and it

should to us!
Responsibility= (raising) children
Correcting and disciplining children
House budgets
Summary:
Remember the whole concept of relationship
has honor as the foundation.

Heb. 13:4 “Marriage should be honored by all, and

the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the
adulterer and all the sexually immoral.”
1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, likewise, dwell with them

In the world the weaker are exploited but in the
kingdom they are honored and compensated.
