    BBMF2023 PRINCIPLES OF INVESTMENT

    COURSEWORK (GROUP) (60%)

    This coursework is a group assignment. You are required to work in a group of 5 to 6 members.

    ASSIGNMENT TASK
    Each group is required to choose ONE (1) of the following companies listed in Bursa Malaysia
    and perform a security analysis using bottom-up approach.
     BERMAZ AUTO BERHAD
     FORMOSA PROSONIC INDUSTRIES BERHAD
     KIM LOONG RESOURCES BERHAD
     MBM RESOURCES BERHAD
     TA ANN HOLDINGS BERHAD
     UCHI TECHNOLOGIES BERHAD
    Note: Each group must inform their tutor on the company they have selected. Groups from the
    same tutorial class are NOT allowed to work on the same company. The company is available for
    selection on a first come, first served basis.

    Required:
    Write an investment coverage report to recommend investors whether they should buy, hold, or
    sell the selected company’s shares. The contents of the report should include the following:

    PART A: GROUP COMPONENT


    1. Company Analysis
     Discuss the selected company’s background and describe its business nature,
    especially on the sources of the company’s revenue. (10 marks)
     Perform financial statement analysis on the selected company. (20 marks)
    Ratio analysis get from sources eg: liquidity- improve or deteriorate.

     Use an appropriate valuation model to determine the intrinsic value of the


    selected company. (20 marks)

    2. Industry Analysis
     Evaluate the outlook for the industry within which the selected company
    operates. (10 marks)
    3. Economic Analysis
     Assess the general state of the economy and its potential effects on the selected
    company’s business. (10 marks)

    PART B: INDIVIDUAL COMPONENT


    4. Technical Analysis (C6)
     Using an appropriate time frame that is relevant to your recommendation in the
    next task, perform a technical analysis on the selected company to predict the
    future trend of its stock price. (10 marks)

    5. Recommendation
     Considering the analysis in the group component and the technical analysis
    performed in the task above, recommend whether investors should buy, hold or
    sell the company’s shares with appropriate justifications. (20 marks)
    IMPORTANT POINTS TO NOTE
    1. The written reports should be typed using Times New Roman font with a size of 12 and
    1.5 line spacing. The length of the report for group component should NOT MORE
    THAN 4,000 WORDS and the length of the report for individual component, for each
    student, should NOT MORE THAN 1,000 WORDS (excluding tables, figures and
    references). Please include word count at the end of the report for group component and
    individual component, respectively.

    2. Be mindful of plagiarism. Referencing and bibliography are expected if any part of your
    assignment is borrowed from any particular source. You must follow TAR UMT
    American Psychological Association (APA) Referencing Style, otherwise marks will
    be deducted. The whole written report (except Appendices) must be submitted to Turnitin
    for check. The similarity index of the Turnitin report MUST NOT MORE THAN 24%.

    3. The due date for submission of this assignment is 22th December 2023, the Friday of
    Week 5. Each group is required to upload the soft copy of the assignment into the google
    classroom. Indicate members’ name on the cover page and followed by the following
    forms after cover page.

    ii. Assessment Criteria (1 copy)
    iii. Plagiarism Statement (1 copy)
    iv. The whole Turnitin report (1 copy) – to be attached in the Appendices.

    4. Groups who failed to submit their coursework by the stipulated deadline are subject to the
    late submission penalty as follows:
     Late submission 1-3 days after the stipulated deadline: Minus 10 mark
     Late submission 4-7 days after the stipulated deadline: Minus 20 mark
     Late submission of more than 7 days after the stipulated deadline: 0 mark
