Troubleshooting
Before investigating individual units for faults, it is very important to check that the
system wiring is fault free. Earth faults on a data loop or any ancillary zone wiring may
cause communication errors. Many fault conditions are the result of simple wiring XP95 Mini Switch Monitor
errors. Check all connections to the unit and make sure the correct value resistors
are fitted where necessary. Installation Guide
Fault Finding
The Mini Switch Monitor, part no 55000-833, is designed to monitor the state of one

or more single-pole, volt-free contacts and may be used in installations where space
No response or missing Incorrect address setting is limited. An end-of-line resistor of 20kΩ should be fitted to the monitoring circuit.
Incorrect loop wiring
Fault condition reported Incorrect wiring The XP95 Mini Switch Monitor has colour coded flying leads and the device is
wired into a circuit without any additional mounting or securing being required.
Analogue value unstable Dual address
Connections to the flying leads should be made via suitable terminal blocks.
Loop data fault, data corruption
Constant alarm Incorrect end-of-line resistor The Mini Switch Monitor has an alarm LED. During installation the device should be
Incorrect wiring correctly orientated, if it is required that the LED be visible.
There are three wiring options for the Mini Switch Monitor and these are shown
overleaf.
The address of the Mini Switch Monitor is set by means of the 7-segment DIL
switch. Each segment of the switch must be set to “0” (ON) or “1” (OFF), using a
small screwdriver or similar tool. Address settings are shown overleaf. An
adhesive label is supplied to cover the aperture through which the DIL switch is
accessed. The label must be fitted to ensure proper protection of the internal
circuitry. Failure to fit the label will invalidate the IP rating. The setting of the switch
should be marked on this label.
