The BetterWorld dress was created to actually make the world better. If you want to share the picture of the
finished dress on social media, please choose any cause close to your heart, donate any amount of money to
that cause and please write under the picture of the finished dress why you chose that cause and why it’s
important to you. You don’t have to donate every time you share a picture of the dress, only for the first time.
Please tag @Sharkotea and use #betterworlddress to your post so that more people can join. You can use the
pattern however you want, you can change the design, you can play with it, you can make it longer or you can
stop at any point and make it shorter (it will work as a top too). You can sell your finished dresses. Just please

3.5 or 4 mm crochet hook, depending on your crochet tension, yarn needle, stitch markers, scissors, cotton
4ply/ fingering yarn (approximately 500g/ 1800 – 2000 meters depending which size you follow and your

TIP: Every round will end with a slip stitch.

Start by creating a slip knot and chain 170, this will be

approximately 90cm. Slip stitch into the first chain to create a
circle. This is your ROUND 1, the starting round.

ROUND 2: sc into the first chain, chain 1, skip 4 chains from round 1, then (tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr)
into the next chain from round one, ch 1, skip 4; you are now staring the round 2 repeat.

Repeat for ROUND 2: sc, ch1, skip 4, (tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr, ch 2, tr), ch 1, skip 4. End the round by sl. st.

TIP: If you find that your circle keeps twisting, you can do round 1 and 2 flat and join into circle at the

twice more to start next round in the middle of the ch-5 space.

the puff with a sc after pulling yarn through,

PART TWO (BODY):
Now you can choose the width for your dress, add stitch markers to the top of the peaks as on the images
below, attach together and try it on to see what fits best.

Large Medium Small

You have three size options for the body of the dress: Small, Medium, Large. Also, alternatively you can make
the dress to fit a bigger bust by moving stitch markers
backwards to make more room in the front and less in the
back to your personal requirement, make sure both of your
sleeves are still the same size (count the peaks)

TIP: If you are following asymmetrical bustier size it is

helpful to add a stitch marker to either where your front
will be or the back, this makes it easier to try on.

ch-4 loops between each of the peaks, so start just after one of the peaks (doesn’t matter which one), ch 4, sc

round 21 and sc into ch-2 space following the first dc from round 21, ch 4, then make a popcorn stitch which
will go either into the next ch-2 space or will pull two sides of the yoke together to separate sleeve and body, ch

PART THREE (SLEEVES):
This part can be stitched together before adding sleeves if you prefer your sleeves
to be tighter fit.

You can start SLEEVE ROUND ONE at any point but please note that the under
part of the sleeve (where you stitched) will have a different pattern repeat to the
scalloped edges. Repeat for the under part will be 11 x dc, one per available stitch.
Every round will finish with a sl. st. to the first stitch.

SLEEVE ROUND 1: following on from where you finished the last dc for the under
part, sc into the next chain space, ch 3, sc into next ch space, sc 3, sc (this creates 2
loop immediately before main round 21 set of four dc stitches stand), /2 x dc into ch
space, dc into dc from main round 21\* repeat this 4 times, then add another 2 x dc
into the last chain space – in total you should have 14 dc created over your peak from main round 21; you are
now starting sleeve round 1 repeat.

Repeat for SLEEVE ROUND 1: sc, ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc, 14 x dc. To finish the round, you have to make additional sc,
ch 3, sc, ch 3, sc to get back to under part of the sleeve.

SLEEVE ROUND 2: first you will carry on completing the under part by making /BPdc, ch 1\* 11 times, then sc
into next chain space, ch 3, sc into next chain space, /BPdc, ch 1\* 14 times, one per each dc from sleeve round 1;
you are now starting sleeve round 2 repeat.
