When response is not received from acquirer on the cut off time of the cycle then late reversal will come
in the 4th cycle.
BIN Limit

ATM- Rs.5,15000.

POS- Rs. 5,50,000.

Dispute
Chargeback-

 not received money but debited from account. The acquirer will do credit adjustment.
 Can be raised 60 days from next date of txns. Credit adjustment will be settled in next cycle.
 Raise chargeback within 5 days. (TAT)
 No penalty if accepted chargeback within T+0 days.
 Need to hold the amount and not given to member banks after receiving credit. Credit can be
given to member banks only after acceptance from NPCI.
 RBI penalty of Rs.100 on each day for delayed credit.

Representment

Raised by acquirer against chargeback by issuer.

Pre-arbitration

Arbitration- 500 per case

PRD( Panel resolution dispute)- 4500 per case

Credit adjustment

 Raised by acquirer when acquirer bank was unable to dispense the requested amount.
Debit adjustment
 Credit reversal message sent to customer. Customer got dispensed cash and account couldn’t be
debited due to credit reversal.
 Raised by acquirer bank.

Good faith

 Chargeback Raised after 60 days from expiry of regular TAT.


 Any good faith dispute should be accepted or rejected within 15 days.
 No pre arbitration or arbitration available.

Day 2

Clearing and Settlement

Customer---Acquirer Switch----NPCI------Issuer Switch.

Auhtorization-Card issuer approves or decline card txns.

Clearing- transfer of data from acquirer to issuer and vice versa. Does not include fund transfer.

Settlement- movement of funds btw acquirer, issuer and Rupay for the day. 4 cycles.

Cycle 1- 11pm previous day to 2:30 am today

UTR( Unique txns reference): 005-PoS txns.

DMS( Dual message system)

TAT is 4 days.

DMS txns be presented even is 60 days. Txns after 4 days are “late presentment”.

Dispute txns life cycle

Members use function code in the files which is being submitted for settlement dispute txns.

Get the written issue of customer.

Find the dispute function code and go through manual.


Example-1065( A/c debited but confirmation not received at merchant location.)

 Txns failed at merchant location as the terminal did not receive successful response.
 Txns failed but paid by alternate means.
 1st txn failed but 2nd txn became successful.

For 2nd condition-“services paid by mode of payment.
For 3rd condition- services paid by ARN.

Arbitration -Rs.3000 + GST per case.

Retrieval request- document from customer having complaint.

Retrieval request mandatory-Copy related and fraud related issues.

Customer----reversal there or not------customer complaint-----issuer----NPCI system----acquirer.

Switching fee is divided into two parts-Processing fee and assessment fee.
