Technical Center, Bopal, Ahmedabad Space Systems Design Lab at Technical Center
Space-enthuse start-ups are approaching IN-SPACe with innovative ideas. As a key enabler, IN-SPACe has taken
the lead to create a unique platform that provides a one stop solution to foster and transform their innovations
into a full-fledged space product.
As a head start for these start-ups, IN-SPACe has taken initiative to establish a Space Systems Design Lab
equipped with high-end simulation tools required from mission planning to RF, structural and thermal design and
analysis of space systems. Start-ups will have access to these tools operating on high performance computing
systems for carrying out their mission specific simulations and analysis. Through this Design Lab, the start-ups
would be able to verify and visualise their designs before metal cutting and realizing cost-effective products with
minimum turnaround time.
Space Systems Design Lab provides a conducive ecosystem and support through periodic training and
workshops. Co-working space is available for long-term facility usage. Design Lab also offers conference
and meeting rooms for formal and informal discussions.
02
3D RF STRUCTURE MODELING
AND EM SIMULATION
Capable of 3D full-wave Frequency Domain and Time Domain based
electromagnetic analysis of RF components & systems by utilizing
direct & hybrid solvers based on Finite Element Method (FEM), Finite
Difference Time Domain (FDTD), Method of Moments (MoM),
Discontinuous Galerkin (DG) method, and High-frequency methods.
Software includes Eigen Mode Solver based on FEM, Asymptotical
electromagnetic field solver based on Shooting and Bouncing Ray (SBR)
method, Characteristic Mode Analysis Solver based on MoM and FEM
solver for analyzing arbitrary shape 3D & planar structures.
03
3D STRUCTURE
MODELING & ANALYSIS
Capable of 3D modeling of components and their assembly with fixity
and constraints. It provides the features of reverse engineering using
images and import & export among various CAD formats. The FEA-based
software is capable of static, free-vibration, buckling, transient response,
frequency response, fluid-structure integration, inertia relief, visco-elastic,
thermal, and random response analyses. Shear force and bending force
diagrams can also be generated. The software can be used for the design
and analysis of primary and secondary mechanical structures & avionic
packages of the launch vehicle, spacecraft, and ground station.
04
Capable of coupled thermal analysis, free and forced convection, radiation heat transfer, and thermal design of
PCBs, FPCs, and multichip modules. The software can generate heat maps, heat flow calculations,
measurements of heat losses, and pressure gradients in inlets and outlets. It can be used for the simulations
of heat loads, flux variation, locating hot spots, thermal runaways, steady-state, material non-linear thermal
properties, axisymmetric modeling, and cyclic thermal problems.
The software can be used for satellite thermal control system design, structural and thermal loading due to
orbital dynamics, and thermal shock transient analysis during the eclipse.
MULTIPHYSICS SIMULATION
Fully coupled multiphysics and single-physics modeling
and simulation capabilities. Design and Simulate MEMS,
SAW devices, battery modules, RF structures, optical
systems, sensors, actuators, and deployment systems.
Simulate electromagnetic, structural mechanics,
acoustics, fluid flow, heat transfer, and chemical
phenomena in one environment following one workflow.
