The first column is nouns that names
specific persons, places, or things and
these are called Proper Nouns. Proper
Nouns always start with capital letters
even if they are not situated at the
beginning of a sentence. Your own
name and the names of your friends are
proper nouns too.
The names of countries and their
peoplethe names of cities, buildings and
landmarks, the names of mountains,
rivers and lake, the days of the week
and months of the year and the names
of festivals, some special events and
holidays are also proper nouns.

The next column is names in general and Araw ng Kagitingan
terms. These are the opposite of proper
nouns and these are called Common
Nouns. Common Nouns are words used
to name general items rather than
specific ones.

For example:
The word Magazine; Magazine is a
Common Noun because it names
general term. If we put it in the first
column which is the proper nouns it
would be FHM Magazine,
Cosmopolitan, Metro, Candy or Yes
Magazine.

ideas.

by our 5 senses, we cannot see, touch,
hear, smell or taste our death or future.

Most compound nouns begin as


separated words. Over a long period of
time, more and more people start to
hyphenate the words. Finally, many
compound nouns come to be written as
one word.

Nouns. Collective nouns name a group
of people, animal, or things.

the group of people, on the 2nd column
for the group of animals and for the 3rd
column for the group of things. What

words to where it belongs. 1 word per

Words called articles are used to signal of fish suite of
nouns. Use an before words beginning rooms
with vowels (a,e,i,o,u)
For example:

But some words don’t follow this rule.


For example, use a (not an) before
these words that begin with u:
A uniform A university

Because the vowel u in these words is


pronounced like the word you.

Use a before words beginning with the


other letters of the alphabet, called
consonants.
For example:

A car A rainbow A pillow

But some words don’t follow this rule.


For example, use an (not a) before
these words that begin with h:

Because the consonant h in these words


is not pronounce.
